last saturday ah read in de local newspaper dat dey having ah pepper eating contest bout 1/2 an hour from here in de next town and ah decided tuh enter.

pic. 1- in front ah de train station where it will be held
pic. 2- de local emergency medical units already on standby
pic. 3- de tent, some ah de contestants already started comming early, drinking beers and jes limming waiting tuh start, last year dey had it fuh de first time and ah field of 37 contestants- dis year dey expect more
pic. 4- de last year winner, alyuh see de congo- pepper in front ah im. dais tuh get yuh in de mood
pic. 5- we start at 1,000,000 scoville, right dey is when de field of contestants geh smaller!

pic. 3- everybody gets 4 pieces of wurst injected wid de sauce and dey trow some other hotsauce over it, yuh also get congopeppers fuh inbetween eef yuh want tuh cool dong a lil bit. yuh could take some time tuh eat buh yuh must finish yuh portion an only den yuh move on tuh de other rounds dat get only hotter

pic. 5- here ah cyar pretend no more! meh eyes red wid tears, ah sweating out of every pore, slight circulation problems an ah aksin mehself if ah leave trini tuh come here and dead or worst tuh sh*t dong de place.

The trick to winning this kinda competition is to drink about ah pint of olive oil - de cheap kind, and full up yuh mouth with oral novocaine (yuh cud swallow about ah spoon-full too rell slow), about 5 minutes before de competition start, den no kinda pepper go give yuh problem - even dat "Ghost Pepper" from Northern India.

Whu waz de prize fuh fuss place?

contrary tuh popular belief dat yuh does go tuh de toilet often or it does "burn twice", pepper eef eaten alone will not cause any discomforts- it´s de other things dat is eaten together with de pepper dat induces such reactions

well de only ting dats proven tuh help wid pepper is cold milk, (pic. 11), in dis competition yuh are allowed 1/2 liter milk.
dat pepper from india is called Jhote Bhulokia and it´s actually dis stuff dats concentrated into doses and injected into de wurst.
de prize fuh fuss place- yuh go laugh- is €100.
ah entered dis competition because ah like pepper and have tried (almost) all different sorts. having also read so much about de scoville unit of measurement, it still remained someting very abstract tuh me an dis competition was ah real chance tuh find out how much hot is hot. an also comming from de lagoon, me eh passing up no pepper eating competition, I thought dat ah cudda eat pepper buh dem other 2 fellas good no rass. de winner used tuh live in thailand an dey he develop ah taste fuh dem he say

Heat or “hotness” is measured in Scoville Units. It’s inventor, Wilbur Scoville, asked a panel of volunteers to try and determine how much sweetened water would be required when mixed with a small amount of pepper extract before they couldn’t taste the heat anymore. For example, if one ounce of sweetened water could eliminate the “hotness” of one drop of a specific pepper extract, then the unit would be one Scoville Unit for that species of pepper. Though subjective, these units were used as a basis to determine the heat or “hotness” of peppers. Jalapeño peppers generally measure around 4500 Scoville Units. On the other hand, Habañeros have Scoville Units between 150,000 and 577,000. That’s hot!
