Tara Road by Maeve Binchy
Probably gets one star.
*SPOILER ALERT*
The ONLY part of the book I liked was when the husband was leaving.
It brought to life how traumatic and painful that could really be.
To all those divorced ppl who survived it similar circumstances, I have a new respect for u.
If you would convince a man that he does wrong, do right. Men will believe what they see.
Henry David Thoreau
chronicles of narniaalmost done with that.
next in line is 'Rage' by Wilbur Smith. I read the two prequels, 'the burning shore' and 'power of the sword'...those were great!
I wanted to ask God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.
^^ did u like the chronicles kem?
I loved his analogy of the shack.

I read digital fortress. I have the e-book saved somewhere. Cant say I was impressed. I'm not much of a Dan Brown fan...
I could forward it to u if u like...that and Deception Point.

Hmm, well I read Da Vinci code which I had liked...and part of Angels and Demons (can't really remember why I didn't read all of it), so I'll give Digital Fortress a try. I'll let you know if I want Deception Point after that.

I've read a total of 1 Stephen King novel in my entire life and I couldn't sleep those couple of nights, so I never bothered to pick one up again. Same with Dean Koontz even though I can see myself reading him again.
Anybody have any good serial killer novel suggestions?

stephen king does focus on a lot on the details of the setting (or the town). I tried reading the tommyknockers but abandoned it 1/3 way.
for a serial killer novel.....the scarecrow is good, by micheal connely. the thing about MC's books is that they're very direct, even for me. but he has some good storylines.

i've read a couple of stephen king already and thought they were ok. I just doh want to have to start reading lord of the rings for the umpteenth time and never get past the first chapter![]()

GENTS: A novel by Warwick Collins
Ezekiel Murphy, a West Indian immigrant, takes up a new
job as an attendant of a large London lavatory. The
supervisor Josiah Reynolds and Jason, a third West Indian,
explain that their main problem is casual sex which takes
place in cubicles. Under pressure from the council
authorities to reduce such behaviour, they expect Ez, to
help them in 'cleaning out the swamp. Each of the
protagonists bring his own moral assumptions to the question.
Ez, a devout Adventist is shocked by such revelations.
Jason a Rastafarian believes that this kind of sex occurs
because Whitey is inherently corrupt. Reynolds, who
takes a more pragmatic view, is concerned to prevent further
illicit encounters in case the council attempt to close the
establishments down. Subtly influenced by the women
in their lives, the three fear their future employment is in
jeopardy and must take a fresh look at their work, and at
themselves.
First published in 1997. Paperback edition.

A BLACK ENGLISMAN
by Carolyn Slaughter
India 1920. Exotic, glamorous and wrenching
away from Britain's colonial grip, only to be
thrown into religious violence and terrorism.
Isabel, a young woman in search of herself and
in flight from the ravages of the Great War, has
married a career soldier whose brutality and
cruelty sicken her. Upon arrival in India she
is thrust headlong into a passionate and
dangerous liaison with Sam, and Indian doctor
who insists against all prejudices on his right to
be both black and British. Their devotion takes
them across the length and breath of India
and to the brink of disaster.
It is a complex novel full of ambiguities, which
explores the crossing of moral, racial, and social boundaries.

It was the best of times; it was the worst of
times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of
foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the
epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it
was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of
of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had
everything before us, we had nothing before us,
we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all
going direct the other way.
