PM: A Haiti is in existence in our own backyard

      Andy Johnson

      Sunday, May 17th 2009

But it was to the Honduras meeting that Prime Minister Patrick Manning pointed, when he made renewed reference to the Haiti matter, on April 19, the closing day of the Fifth Summit of the Americas in Port of Spain.

Then, the Prime Minister had disclosed in his Chairman's closing address at the Summit, that the retreat of leaders had made a new commitment, based on a presentation made to them by the Haitian President Rene Preval.

The situation, the Prime Minister said on the basis of that presentation, "is one which no one in the region can be proud of. It is not our concern how this situation came about. The fact of the matter is that it exists and none of us could feel comfortable, however rich or poor we might be, that a Haiti is in existence in our own backyard and therefore we resolved to do something about it."

FALCON my friend, these UNC, and PNM supporters would do anything to show up, or discredit each other's party. It's so infantile, and immature. Then they get pissed when we expat refer to their attitude as "third world".

What exactly is Third World about vicious and underhanded partisan attacks? Developed nations wrote the book on political mudslinging, and they add chapters to it every year.

Light you should first visit Haiti's Cite Soleil and then return to Trinidad to dare compare it to Laventille/Beetham. Last I recall, Laventillians were not eating mud cakes/pies (a mixture of dried mud and shortening) to survive. Nor were they living in landfills scavenging for food.

No matter how much respect, no matter how much recognition whites show towards me, as far as I'm concerned, as long as it is not shown to every one of our people in this country, it doesn't exist for me"- Malcolm X, 1964

Zak, if he had the Manning's in his avatar .. would you have made the same comment?

As a lesser mortal, and a conservative Repuke at that, you can even the score by finding a loving pic of John and Cindy McCain, or one of your second man and second Lady and use that as an avatar, because I don't know if you recognize this, but a pic of Barack and Michelle is NOT a symbol of any political party.

HUMA my friend, i canvassed very heavily for president OBAMA. We went into republican strong holds, with no heckling. Remember FLORIDA is considered a republican state. The election is over. We accept the resulst and moved on. So did the republicans. Of course people will comment on events. But in an everyday conversations you would not be able to tell who is republican, and who is democrats. In AMERICA politics is a part of life; in T&T politics is a way of life.

Who is this man in your avatar ? i don't recognize him.
      DANCERBOY
That man is the great Lord Melody. They used to call him the "Boo Boo" man back when we were taught to hate the width of our noses and the color of our skin.

If yuh was on ah "fuss world" forum, yuh wouldn't da have to change yuh avatar.
I am on a superbly adminstered, fuss class forum, and that is good enough for me.
Man does say, "Why buy the whole cow when yuh could get the milk fuh free?"
Woman does say, "Why marry the whole hog, when all yuh getting is ah little sausage?"

FALCON my friend, these UNC, and PNM supporters would do anything to show up, or discredit each other's party. It's so infantile, and immature. Then they get pissed when we expat refer to their attitude as "third world".

      DANCERBOY
So let me ask yuh ah third world question nah!

When you get pay, do you pay your bills, buy food and make sure your family has everything they need first?

Or, do you help out the neighbors first?
      Where de money gone?
