Maradona is one of my all time football heros, but no good can come from this....the man has zero coaching exerience and far too many personal problems.

History is littered with stories of hot-shot past greats becoming instinctive and successful coaches. Unfortunately, as many as are the success stories, there are the tales of those who just couldnt make it. Ent Latas goin coach TT when Fransisco-kid get the boot? Ent Yorkie goin help he?

I'd rather hope that Maradonna does well- he deserves the honour for what he represents to that country, and he has more passion than ANY footballer I have ever seen or heard of in my life. Yuh ever see how he does be in the private box at Boca??

Everything will continue to be based around Riquelme (and most of the CONMEBOL teams have figured this out).

Many of you have allowed your opinions and some of your opinions may well be justified based on

Mr.Maradona's past indiscretions but it is my considered view that some folks may do well to give the fellow a

chance and let us see what he does and if he is up to the task!

It is very easy to throw stones and many folks who were caught up in the cruel web of illicit drugs ( such as

the current wife of Senator John McCain) and quite a few well known people who have today kicked the habit

and have become very useful citizens with what is left of there "zonked out " brains....so give the fellow a

Now that is a bet I would take, not because I want him to fail, but because I think he need to fix himself first before he tries to fix Argentina's football team.

I just think the man has too many personal problems to have this kind of reposnibility.

Son dont you need licks sometimes? steupssss....One of his assistants is the respected DOCTOR CARLOS SALVADOR BILARDO! Let me tell you who he is since you dont seem to know a lot about football. He was the coach for Argentina when they won the 1986 World Cup and second place in 1990.

I agree with you that Diego has way too many unresolved issues, I really do not think he will do great and this is one of those times I would love to be wrong.

The way I see this playing out is that Scorpio (or the guy who you termed as dont seem to know a lot about football) will rejoice that he was right IF Argentina start playing badly. IF they start with a win against Scotland, then mash up their qualifying group, he will simply say the jury is still out and the team's raw skill is carrying Diego's management.

Great players don't always make great managers. It's a cliche but still true. at club level, Fergie at Man U, Wenger at Arsenal, Mourinho, Capello (before he managed England), Lippi, were not great players as such, but obviously all of them won plenty as managers.

it's a gamble to hire him as coach, but i guess there is risk in everything.

It's only Scotland nah. But seriously, he would surely face sterner tests to come. Anything other than qualification for South Africa 2010 is not good enough, especially for a country of Argentina's international football heritage, and obviously if he didn't get them there he wouldn't have a job for long after that. And even if he gets them there, they have to make a good showing. It's like in Euro 2008 when France got knocked out in the group stage, you think "eh eh!" because France are one of the stronger European national teams.

Falcon, yes it is a factor but in this particular case we cannot make excuses. As Diego said, Bolivia played way better than Argentina and Maradona's team could not counteract the constant attacks. Personally, I think Argentina was expecting the Bolivians to play defense as most "small" teams do when playing a "bigger" team but that's not what Bolivia did and that's why they humiliate Argentina in such manner. Oh well, I was happy hearing Diego not making any excuses.
