...I hated foods like curry bodi, baigan choka and tomato choka. Now I love it....
I can't explain why. As we get older do we appreciate taste more? I dunno..hmmmm :|
Is there any food you hated as a child and now enjoy eating?
pumpkin??
still hate yoghurt and avocado
when i was young, i hated fish (too much fine bone), carilee (too bitter), liver and squid (alien looking). now, i like fish (cause i takin meh time eating it), love carilee and liver *mouth waters*, and apprecieate the rarity of squid. my feelings bout gizzard has not change tho. just too gross and rubbery/chewy for me. no matter my age![]()
There is always a bigger fish.
I recall being quite a fussy eater.. as you said strombo maybe it was the texture of the food in my mouth no matter the taste.
still won't eat tripe or souse though!
for the life of me, i not eating chicken foot at all. it looks too gross. sometimes chicken skin can gross me out too if its looks slippery/slimy/ jiggly in soups. texture and the percieved "feel" in the mouth. love me some souse tho.
There is always a bigger fish.
^^I doh eat chicken foot either. Yucky.
I hated mashed potatoes with a passion when I was younger. And peas. Big long tears if I had to eat pigeon peas....while my mother sit with a belt watching meh hard. I didnt care for smoked herring either.
Now I love pigeon peas.
I am indifferent to mashed potatoes and smoked herring.
I hated Chicken wings, not anymore.
bitter lettuce ah still hate it
I doh eat chicken foot, duck foot or whtever other foot it have.
I don't eat chicken skin or duck skin etc.
I never liked cucumber and onions and still don't.
Those who criticise our generation forget who raised it...

Time spent on TTOL..... "time well wasted"
I am from the country side but growing up i hated pumpkin (gag everytime - cried to eat it), carilee (way too bitter) , mayo (felt like vomitting), dasheen (just didn't taste right), hate liver (any kind - I hate it - it looks sick to me, to slimmy looking), okra (just don't like it), don't like potato salad, refuse to eat certain fish (love saltfish and smoke herring though), love gizzard and chicken foot (chicken foot soup is great). My list of food that i dislike is very long up to this day. I'm a very PICKY EATER!!!
I know we talking about when we were younger but since we on the topic of food:
I hate Chinese food (it smells funny, the smell of it makes me feel like throwing up), I don't like Japanese food (that smells funny too).

As much as people hate pumpkin they must remember that pumpkin have that vitamins B2 folic acid which is very very rare. So allyuh doe lemma gear meh belt and make allyuh eat allyuh pumpkin eh.
i ate a lot of provision. i love yam and cassava, eddoes, etc., ate a lot of dumpling (cornmeal, cassava, plain etc). I also ate a lot of rice, oil down, things like that. I was a picky child but there were some things that i loved then and still love today. Needless to say I grew up to be a picky adult. I still don't eat everything and i surely don't eat from everybody and anybody.
i now live in the US and i now mostly eat what i cook. i rarely eat out. Actually I don't eat out anymore. I use to do it a lot at a certain point (with the in-laws). This is not a stereotype American ppl eat out a lot. We went to Denny's (i would either get a nacho dish (only because it have ground beef in it), or i would order the chicken finger platter), AppleBee's (i use to order the chicken finger platter everytime with a ketchup bottle on the side). Basically any sit down restaurant I would order the same thing.
I don't eat burgers so if i go to McDonald's I use to get the fries and either a vanilla/strawberry milkshake (hate chocolate milkshake). At Wendy's i use to order either their fries, chicken nuggets (hate McDonald's chicken nuggets - taste raw 2 me), and a plain spicy chicken (plain as in the bread and the meat only - nothing else on it). i don't like taco bell, I-hop etc.
i don't even eat fast food anymore.
what i did eat a lot of when i came up here was a bunch of junk food and because of it i gained a lot of weight ( no kidding). I ate popcorn for breakfast, drank soft drink, ate chocolate etc. Just junk food in general. I was skinny (really thin - I was 5ft 10" wearing a size 6 or 7/8, maybe) so it never bothered me. Now I'm 6ft and wearing size 12/13 with a belt. Don't get me wrong. I love my thighs, booty and hips. I just not loving the stomach that came along with it. I'm working on getting rid of it though.
I don't think I'm fat because i'm not. I'm thick and love it. I just need to get my stomach under control. Guys tell me that it doesn't look bad but it's my body and I see it for what it really is. Guys see me and they see great personality, breast, hips and butt, so they say whatever it takes to get what they see.
I grew up amongst a lot of guys, so guys come to me with what I know (believe) to be their best line(s) and I shut them down because I can smell a 'cheese ball' guy from a distance.![]()

Egg.
Egg products are fine, but the smell of egg in and of itself is extremely upsetting to me. I could manage an omlette if it's made well, but you see boil egg...I could smell it from the next room and my stomach will start flipping one time.
I was like that when I was younger, and it has only gotten worse.
When I was younger I couldn't stand yogurt. Now I'm still not a fan but I don't mind that much.
What else...had a time I wouldn't touch chocolate if it wasn't plain. Now I love chocolate with caramel or nuts or anything so.

I used to hate dasheen bush bhaji now I love it...depending on how it is prepared...it must have coconut milk. Speaking of coconut...I used to hate coconut water...now I love it, however I am more partial to the hard jelly variety. I used to hate soup...garden soup...the one with provisions and stuff....now I love it...especially since my mom has a different way of preparing it now.
Love is difficult to give away...
It just keeps coming back.
