Choosing your career is a big decision. But what if you're not certain about what drives you?
Ot what if, like many you are drawn to more than one job? It is not an unusual conundrum.
To those who understand, no explanation is necessary; to those who do not, none is possible.
Nathaniel Branden, "Social Metaphysics."
Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is; treat a man as he can and should be and he
will become as he can and should be..

I shall be glad to hear from you, since questions have have always interested me; questions, not

Being happy with the path you are on.
"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live" - A wise old wizard
You measure your seccess by your level of happiness.
Portfolio careers are a relatively new phenomenon, a way of life that is becoming ever more popular
and accepted. The recession has boosted the number of people opting for portfolio careers. The
security of permanent, full-time jobs has disappeared. Opting for multiple careers, rather than putting
all your eggs in one basket, can be more financially secure. Of course, you have to be flexible to
handle two careers.
To those who understand, no explanation is necessary; to those who do not, none is possible.

That people tend toward a portfolio career is likely why many never achieve "success". One's interests change over time, and doing the same thing over and over again can become a bore.
Most persons will always have a "primary" source of income but the trick is to develop those other areas of interest to also bring in income. That way, one can eventually switch from one to the other as primary when one becomes monotonous.
That kind of flexibility to always do something you enjoy doing while making the money to live comfortably on is probably success in itself.

Sirius, There is a misconception that to be good at your job, it has to be your only career. I think that having multiple jobs mean I am better at each one - I think the Internet has given people the opportunity to experiment more with their career. Of course, there's a generation that finds it hard to understand portfolio careers. Believing you have an education so that you get a high-paying career job But as a way of life , some people are much happier being able to do all the things they enjoy. Definition of success is not being the boss or early retirement - it is about doing something that you really want to do...
