So being employed in T&T is considered service to the country.

True, as long as you do any program that is GATE approved, you are surposed to work for the givernment for the equivalent cost of the tuition but that does not happen.

If you received a scholarship, you do have to work for the Government for a period of time and that is ensured, if you do not, you have to repay the scholarship.

I tell my cousins to come Trini to access gate and then go back to the US. Is no accountability. All they need is their tnt birthpaper to attach to tht gate form and they in.

    Bumping.

So back to the question at hand, what is the best choice?? Also, does anyone know of the marketability of the Arthur Lok degree not only in Trinidad and Tobago but throughout the region?

Well, if you get a loan and complete your degree and the bubble busts, they cannot rescind your degree, can they? They can take away your house, car, or attach your paycheck but the degree stays. And, if you leave the country, there's little chance of them hunting them down for their money anyway. Anyway, seems that Obama is trying to come up with a student debt forgiveness program so those loans will be gone if his scheme comes to fruition.

    1. MAny of the top schools do not offer scholarships and grants as they expect their students to take out whatever loans are required to have the name on their resume. And I am debt-averse, student loans included. Everything in this country is about loans and spending what you don't have. I'm just not interested in burdening myself with six-figure debt and having no choice but to subject myself to a toxic work environment for the sake of paying back Uncle Same and private lenders.

    2. I never suggested it will come easily, but the lifestyle is plain and simple unhealthy and dangerous. I have experienced and observed same over the past years and I refuse to repeat it.

    3. True, but once again, I am not interested in staying in the U.S. for my MBA.

Any individuals in the know can address my initial question: what is the best choice?? Also, does anyone know of the marketability of the Arthur Lok degree not only in Trinidad and Tobago but throughout the region?

Lok Jack is under UWI and has good programmes so you should not have much of a problem with regional recognition. Make sure you have plenty of time or at least a flexible schedule as my understanding is their programmes can be quite demanding as compared with others around here.

I take it you have already determined what sort of career path and by extension what sort of MBA you want. Don't do the degree and then try to figure out what to do with it - an all too common mistake.

U canna discharge student debt thru bankruptcy...

Gainful employment has become increasingly difficult 4 new college grads...And it won't get better in the near term.

And whatever bailout scheme Obama comes up with am certain taxpayers will be footing the bill...

And not only taxpayer in the US. Citizens of T&T will also pay part of the US gubmint largess...
