As a country we have naturally made some gains. However, the regression made in the country outshines the gains. At this juncture the people need to remind the GOV'T ( The past GOV'T'S also) that they are there to serve the people, and not the other way around. Governments very rarely change voluntarily, unless their existence depends on it. The people of T&T have to demand change. All the people, but the people who the GOV'T represent, are invariably united behind the GOV'T. And the people misrepresented by the GOV'T are too disunited to seek change.

Maccs....PNM represented one segment of society in Trini for the past 50 years.
....Really what segment of society was that?

While they were the dominant political party....they were not the country..
. is that so, well when the PNM did anything that the county benefited from I guess that was for only that segment of the society you were speaking about.

I guess I should of done like you and others migrated, then you would not of been asking me ta ta as to what it was I did to build the nation, and preaching about how one should contribute to nation building, what is it that you tell your grand children about T&T, I really wonder since you seem to know how well a citizen of T&T should build ones country.

Seems to me--that this is an indictment on us all--and it continues--right here--as we deteriorate into the usual political snipes and undertones--50 years on having failed to carve a society of respect.

Snow, I believe that Trinidad could be the Paradise it once was, IT only the people and Politicians would put the energy they put in Party loyalty to work on behalf of the Country.

As screwed up as T&T is right now because of the kind of politics that passes for good governance, T&T is still one of the best places in the world.

Not in this century or the next. Probably would take many, many generations when all the people look the same, or give it back to the British.

On March 3, 1988, the people of the Islands went to the polls and gave an overwhelming majority to a new Government. The People's Democratic Movement (PDM) under the Honourable Oswald O. Skippings, former Leader of the Opposition, won 11 of the 13 voting districts, sweeping all the Islands except South Caicos, a traditional stronghold of the Progressive National Party (PNP) who formed the previous Government. The new Government, under Mr. Skippings, stated that one of its first priorities will be a close examination of the relationship between Canada and the Turks & Caicos Islands, and, provided Britain agrees, within the next few months, major steps towards forming some type of Association between the two countries is a very real possibility. In the meantime, Canadians continue flowing into the Islands in record numbers, buying property, building retirement homes, establishing businesses and making investments. The economy of the Turks & Caicos clearly is benefitting even from the idea of the proposed partnership.

Look how kantangerous we were when we country was only 11 years old.

    http://www.tntmirror.com/2012/01/29/...ainment-crisis

    Protest over $4 fete tickets

GREEDY fete promoters are all set to turn Carnival 1973 into an entertainment crisis.

For with Carnival only three weeks off, the promoters are charging $5 and $4 to get into fetes that cost $3 and $2 previously.

Two weeks ago, there was public outcry, when $5 a head was charged to get into a fete at the Arima tennis court.

Promoters explain that the price hike was due to the recent budget which had increased overhead expenses.

Inside information is, that the smaller fete promoters will be watching to see how the big boys fare, with the increase in prices, and if there is not further outcry, the public may be faced with paying $5 to get into all Carnival fetes.

A smaller promoter explained that although there are promoters who have gone ahead and printed tickets with lower admission price, “these prices can be changed at a moment’s notice to fall in line with the general prices, once these printed tickets are just advertisements, and not guarantees for the fete.

NOPE, she is a born American and will grow up as an American with all rights and privileges to which she is entitled. My other kids, even though they love it when they go to Triniland, they have set down their roots here and call America home.

Boy I wish this would have happened quickly.... but something tells me.... I may not see this in my lifetime.
....After all it took Newfoundland almost a hundred years to join the confederation..... (Dominion formed in 1867......Newfoundland joined in 1949)

Thing is ...... if T&C waits too long .... they would have lost a window of opportunity they will never see again

.... it is already predicted that 'the Baby Boomers' will probably be the wealthiest retirees ever.....

along with most of us retiring from secure jobs that we have had for most of our lives.... we were also able to invest at a time where we had many guarantees .... and protection of those investments
....added to that....we are the generation who will benefit the most from 'life insurance'
..... yes, our parents were the ones who built the insurance empires.... by buying life insurance they are now leaving to the next generation.
... We have since learned that insurance is not just for leaving an inheritance for your loved ones ..... Which is why you see so many retirees with bumper stickers that say

...... "I am spending my childrens inheritance" we wuk hard.....so we livin large
