I'll tell you what more I want: I want the government to put appropriate measures in place such that these persons will have the capability to pay for these utilities and services instead of expecting continuous handouts.

meh, the spending spree this PP gov't is engaging is nothing but theft from future generations. My children aren't going to get to see this level of gov't provided benefits- the money would have run out by then.

The lowering of the retirement age from 65 to 60 isn't sustainable. The system will collapse when oil and gas runs out and the population isn't able to support these expenses.

But let's forget about that. Great is the PP, and it is invincible.

You see that what the government is offering I am in total disagreement with that. The Dependence Syndrome in which the country is suffering with already is getting worse. I have friends who are disabled, they do not want that. What they want is equal opportunity and laws to be passed to protect them.

This government only spending money unnecessarily.

Let's not forget that with modern advancements in lifestyle and medical care, people are living longer. They are remaining productive for longer and if anything, the retirement age should go UP, not down.

Who thinks up these stupid ideas ? No thought for the environmental impact ?

NOBODY should ever be given an unlimited, free supply of water and electricity. 12,000 people & their families boundlessly using these resources is an environmental tragedy.


As a separate point, even the Ferry service to Tobago should be limited to one or two trips per year. There are very few circumstances I can think where this service could be view as need for anyone.

Pension is automatic at 65? I heard from some people last year that they went thru interview or are waiting on an interview before they can get pension.

So I was wondering if people are refused pension at 65 now based on some criteria.

you income should not exceed $4k/month. So if you get NIS of $3k you may only be eligible to get $1k as your pension. There are people who are retired from their jobs and will never qualify for old age pension as they would be getting pension from their former employers and thereby going over the income threshold. If you don't qualify for NIS then you get $3k/month (pension) and that can't do much for an old person
