Max eh need that these days.
Canaval soon come.
Just noticed this picture of 'Presidents House' on the Newsday Newspaper site today.....
All I can say it that 'Max' is a real patient fella.
If memory serves me correctly....didn't this collapse occur around the time Kamla was either running for..... or had just won the election to become the Prime Minister of T&T
My God.... how many trips has that woman taken since then..... how many millions has she and the PP spent on `frivolous`things..... my god, there was evern talk that the `Pink Palace` underwent some upgrades.... all of this while `The Official Home of the President`sits ..... in this condition.....
Shame on you Kamla....and shame on the people of T&T for allowing this atrocity to be perpetrated on `The First Family of T&T`.....shame on all of you.

He leaving there or in his own house?
Iza shame.
Seriously..... I have no idea where the President lives..... but I hope it is not in that place..... under those conditions.
comeon..... he is the President for heavens sake....you would think they would be able to 'fast track' any renovations to his house.

That whole place needs to be completely renovated. It's a landmark and needs to be kept as such. But I bet that if any funds are allocated to the restoration, people will find a reason to complain because it's not "a priority".
You can't please everybody so do it anyway yes.

You feel is ah doubles shed that fall down that they re building.
Before you rebuild them old buildings, if yuh want tuh retain the same architecture from the specific century that it was built, yuh have tuh bring in all kinda 18th century architectural expert, and do all kinda study.
They coulda break down that building and build back up something in nutten flat.
Then you self woulda been calling we third world, banana republic fuh not keeping the architectural ambience of the damn old building.

Zacky.... the whole of Europe is filled with 18th century buildings that need renovations and restorations from time to time....there for there are thousands of workmen /artisans who are trained to restore / repair .... turn of the century buildings.
Zacky the same way the state can spend millions and millions of dollars to bring in 'Lawyers' from the UK to adjudicate the Privy Council appeals.... you are trying to tell me....they cannot bring the trained help to work on this....
Zacky Calder Hart was able to bring in workers all the way from the Far East.... no one in T&T knows how to bring in .....stone cutters from Portugal, or Austrian.
Zacky, Zacky....the one thing the 'Empire' did was to make sure their style of architecture...... straddled the globe..... In my very own city in Canada....we are noted for the historical stone buildings (they come here to make movies....and pretend it is in Europe).... We have a very old friend who emegrated from Austria during the war.... he formed a company in my region that specializes in 'restoration of those old buildings'
..... When you have time....google a city in Ontario called Guelph.... that was one of the many projects my friend John's company was contracted to do by the Government.
Trini's have to start 'looking beyond' their own borders ...... to areas and countries they can learn from....no, they may not have all of the expertise now.... but by learning from the 'masters'...they can acquire the knowledge quicker... and first hand.
Oh, and yes, I remember how long it took just to referbish the facade of QRC.... my husband has two pictures of his old school taken a year apart....they looked like they were taken.... the same day....scaffolding in the exact same position....nothing chaned....... at the time my brother who was taking him around laughed and said....."yep, as they say....they were on Trini time![]()

There is enough land space there to have erected an appropriate building for the President--and as far as the old building---well--all them people who want to see it restored and bumping dey gum--dig in yuh pocket and restore it.

the building has no steel support, it was constructed with technology of the period and to reinforce the walls and support the foundation and save the original architecture external and internal will be prohibitive. The Red House is a good example. There is a limit to nostalgia. The roof ifs slate--when the Dairy Dairy man who bought the Mary Street property from the infamous speaker who was under house arrest--he had to bring Italian masons and slate from Italy to make his palace--that was also prohibitive-but that was his money.
You know how much horspital bed that money cud buy.

If yuh think dat is bad you should see Lady Hochoy grave.Yes de oman who give she whole life helping people (Lady Hochoy Home) etc.De oman doh even have ah grave stone.
OK. I did not look at that aspect of it.
If that is the case, then by all means break down and rebuild...but do it on the same spot and maintain the original design. History aside, the buildings around the Savannah from QRC to President's House have a particular style that I feel we should strive to maintain.

Sheield....the technology of today can now 'recreate' many of those styles.... sometimes even using the original exterior facade... and using new materials that 'cosmetically' look like the original ..... that way preserving the look and the integrity of that period.....
besides.... the government was not concerned about how many hospital beds they could buy when they purchased.....the blimps.... those SUV for the summit... paid for all of Kamla's globe trotting....and a host of other silly expendetures
and didn't you guys say you had a 'historical society responsible for protecting the architecture of the past...how come those people are not involved in saving some of these buildings.
Oh and by the way.... the church I go to is a least a hundred years old.... the original 'slate roof' had to be replace a couple of times in the 40 years since I have been attending (we always had to have a 'fund raising')... however happily it was done for the last time last summer. Yes, thanks to 'technology'.... a product has now been created that ..... looks like slate, feels like slat....is much lighter than slate.... and the best part..... is a life time product (we done changing or repairing roof)...here it is.
Your President's House or any other historical building can be repaired or rebuilt..... using 'today's materials.
