What does it matter to you if he does really? You keep harping on that over and over. Let me give you a little tip, if the AG washed his hands clean like Pontius Pilate, over the Ish and Steve affair, better than him to now go and start any proceedings against Panday, he will not play stupid and do that, too much at stake.

As it is right now they too busy trying to delay the UNC internal elections, they head hot with that firestorm that coming from within the UNC.

There's a saying we people from the bush use often: "Never burn the bridge you cross." What is confusing is that since you care so little about the country, why criticize it and its people. After all, you're not a Trinbagonian but a Canadian as you've repeatedly made that point abundantly clear. You really should seek out a Forum of "your own kind" and stick with them.

BTW: Your children not having ever visited T&T is not a badge of honour to be bandied about but it's a very sad reflection on their parents.

    guy,

when yuh spend the majority of yuh life pretending you are something you are not, and you finally realise that the people that you are pretending to be like, do not really take you as one of them, them you run back to your roots and try to be accepted (by the very people you turned your back on) by overcompensating. by becoming a super-trini if you will.

you suddenly become an expert on something you were ashamed to be for the majority of your life and all them schupid trinis will fall for it and accept you as the returning fair skin queen.

Well let me ask this then why it took Kamla so long to go find her long lost relatives, what happen she was pretending to be something she was not, so she did not have time for family that may be living in poverty in India, but now that she is PM and can fly in on a Chopper with Indian guards it instantly seem appropriate to do so ?

I never considered the PM to be a woman that has financial difficulty, and considering how many charter flights, tours for this same reason finding your 'roots" in India that has been offered over the years, Niapaul Travel always offering such trips, you want to tell me it never dawned on her to make this link? So its only now after all these years and as she is PM of T&T, she is now interested and most of all she has miraculously found family there.

I thought that wanting to know ones roots is a normal human instinct. Yes there are always a few who do not fall into this category and that we must understand.
Remember that well publicized visit to Kenya and it was highly celebrated? Even by Michelle. Remember?

Oh! Congrats PM and all who find their roots!

Tsk tsk..... why is it some of us get a little irritated at the fact that others choose their own path....and do not use the cliche approach to life.

    1. I know my Ancestry.... as I have shared before.... my family took great pains to catalog it.....complete with names, dates, places and pictures... Just like I have the bible and other history books to 'revisit' the past....so to I can revisit my ancestry any time I want.

    2. Burning bridges..... it is not a matter of burning bridges..... but moving on.... looking forward..... I have never been one to look 'backward'....what good is it going to do me?

    3. Why do I criticize Trinidad and Tobago.... because I still have loved ones who live there.... and I want better for them.... I am also very disappointed that a country with so much potential still hasn't got it right..... I am disappointed that T&T has not only 'regressed' since I lived there...the mentality/attitude of the people seem to have gone backward to.

    4. Yes, I am not a Trini..... I became a citizen of Canada the day my first Canadian child was born (a country where I have now spent over two thirds of my life) ... I have been a Canadian longer than I have been a Trinidadian..... just like I suppose my ancestors were Trinis longer than they were nationals of the countries they originally came from..... You know what? In all the years I knew my grandparents and great grandparents.... I never heard them lament that they wanted to go back..... all I grew up hearing is them......'bigging-up Trinidad and Tobago....the country 'they chose to live in'.

    5. Like my parents and myself.... my children were allowed to 'make their own choices'..... nothing (not even ancestry/nationality) was foisted upon them.... for that reason ....they were raised as Canadians.... plain and simple.... not Canadians / 'slash' anything..... the only aliegence they have is to 'their country' for as long as they choose..... so what did one do? Move to Australia 15 years ago and is now a citizen of that country.... I guess that means that any children she may have will be simply...... Australian.

Guess we are just a 'nomadic' family who never looks back.....nothing to gain.

Sola.... I know it is hard for you to understand..... what I see..... but having lived there in the 40's 50's and 60's....trust me..... attitudes have changed..... and not for the better. When I criticize T&T to my young nephews and nieces..... they can't understand where I am coming from (this T&T is the only one they know) ....however their parents 'get it'.

Oh, and Guyguy......can you send me a copy of your 'Parenting Handbook'..... want to read up on the section that covers this obligation that we their parents ..... violated

Oh, and Guyguy......can you send me a copy of your 'Parenting Handbook'..... want to read up on the section that covers this obligation that we their parents ..... violated

"BTW: Your children not having ever visited T&T is not a badge of honour to be bandied about but it's a very sad reflection on their parents."

and this coming from a parent who once referred to his children as ......"Half -Breed"
That "Parenting Handbook" was the brainchild of my wife. She has the copyright so you'll have to ask her. Besides, it wouldn't make sense to you anyway since she wrote it in the American-Trini dialect - one that is foreign and unintelligible to fresh water Canadians. From my perspective, she did a helluva job raising those 5 Half-Breeds. And yes! They are half-breeds and the know it too, and they're damn proud of it, and they're especially proud of their father's roots in Trinidad. Whenever I ask them where they'd like to go on vacation, it's always T&T even though they can go anywhere else in the world if they wish. BTW: You forgot to mention that I also refer to them as nemakharams.

Falcon, Falcon...... Why are you and others continuing to get 'bent out of shape' over 'Snow's Opinion of T&T?

My God..... I even had guyguy tell me that maybe I should..... "seek out a Forum of "your own kind" and stick with them." If I am not mistaken..... it is this type of attitude that is dividing....not just T&T.... but the world right now...... rather than share, listen and try to learn to see things from the other persons point of view..... we would rather 'silence them'.

Falcon....for me it has never been about.... right or wrong .... or for that matter....win or lose....it is not about scoring points..... or one-upmanship.

It is about sharing opinions..... and either agreeing..... or agreeing to disagree.....No?

I have my opinion of T&T..... others have their own...... Why do they both have to be the same?
..... why do I have to see that country.....from the perspective of ....others?
for me to do so.... would be like me expecting those who criticize ....Canada or even ....Cuba ...to see and appreciate those countries....from my perspective

I know that can't happen.....so all I can do is attempt to 'debunk' any myths that may be presented in defense of said criticism.... I am not trying to 'convert' anyone...... just sharing.....my opinion..... That is what this forum is for ...... No?

Ohhhhhhhhh. the venom...... and all because ....we are 'different' people.....who make different choices in life .....sheeesh

Oh, and by the way..... you may have noticed...... I never had the audacity to 'critique' the parenting skills of either you or your wife (don't know why you feel the need to defend it)..... all I did was make reference to a term you once used to describe your children...at the time I believe I communicated I found it.... offensive..... I believe I said something to the effect....the only label I put on my children was that of .....Human Being.

The venom? You must be mard. That's a simple tit-for-tat. If I were to become truly venomous, I'd get banned by Falcon in a second. I can stand a lot of things but hypocrisy and being disingenuous are two things that I cannot and will not tolerate.
