Default Do We Need a Spiritual Revival?

Some believe a call for nationwide prayer and fasting would ignite a religious revival.
Given the trials that have beset the world - from global economics down turn to
natural disasters, the lingering danger of terrorism and wars... it seems imperative
that the people of the world should once again join together for a solemn day of
    prayer and fasting ...
To those who understand, no explanation is necessary; to those who do not, none is possible.
    Nathaniel Branden, "Social Metaphysics."

Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is; treat a man as he can and should be and he
will become as he can and should be..

    -Goethe

I shall be glad to hear from you, since questions have have always interested me; questions, not
debates - I have given those up long ago. Life itself is a quotation.

Why does the word revival have a negative connotation for many people? It
is because they associate a revival meetingwith undisciplined emotionalism.
And some cringe at any publicly expressed religious devotion ...
To those who understand, no explanation is necessary; to those who do not, none is possible.

You said spiritual revival in your title but spoke about religious revival in your post. A spiritual revival could probably be a good thing but a religious revival? Hell no. Which religion gets the revival? Why? We don't need yet another factor to divide people.

The effects of the Great Awakening of 1740 were studied by American theologian Jonathan Edwards.
The conditions under which revival s took place were analysed and then promote by the 19th- and
the 20th century American revivalists such as Charles Finney (1792-18875), Dwight Moody and Billy
Graham. Seeking and expecting revival is also the normal approach of the Salvation Army, and
    Pentecostal Revival groups.

In the 18th century several apparently spontaneous outbreaks of a mass awareness of a need for God,
like that recorded at Pentecost (Acts 2) occured, revitalising churches in England, Wales, and America.
Similar awakening in Wales, South America, India, Africa, China and South Korea took place in the 20th
    century.

Lec, I believe that every individual needs a spiritual revival. One grain of match will start a fire which could spread to a community .. to a Country and then to the world.

In other words my friend, spiritual revival must start with us first.

O what a wonderful day the Lord has made! I will rejoice and be glad in it! I will lift my hands towards the Heaven and my eyes unto the Hill from where my help come and blessings flow.

Life never came with instructions, and since I am not perfect ... I will make mistakes.
