Right now I have a iphone 3GS and paying about $200-$240 a month prepaid for unlimited EDGE service plus marginal voice/text usage.

EDGE not cutting it. It is an embarrassment when I go to check something and it takes so long to download.

So far I've worked it out between getting a cheap android/IYP package and selling the phone, or going with the lowest iphone/IYP plan. Tthe cheapest android option (Galaxy Pro) comes up to $6057 total, inclusive of the phone, voice/data/text and iyp service for a year. But they have an iPhone 4 for about $1000 more with a better package to boot.

Why the IYP by itself costs so much, the lord alone knows

I think it's pretty ridiculous that the android+IYP is only $300 difference from the basic IYP 1Yr plan. The IYP plan might end up costing more since it doesn't include any phone data/minutes/texts. Plus one could sell the Galaxy Pro and come out even further ahead.

I hope that the IYP works in Tobago.

4G? heh.... you'd see de face of God before you see that in Trini.

Best option for mobile data is the Blink hotspot, as has been said. I would say that the quality of phones has improved though, Samsung Galaxy S II is best ting.

we have wimax in certain areas, advertised as going up to 2 Megabits/second. Wimax is "4G" and is the same standard that Sprint and Clear use for their 4G service.

Not ground-breaking but certainly better than EDGE for us.

The max speeds that I get on this phone now is when I connect to WiFi and unfortunately TT's not a giant unsecured network...

BTW: Why do I have to curse to set up Hotmail on a C3 that I got under the couch.Everything else is easy to install Gmail,Yahoo,FB,etc but Hotmail's like pulling teeth...

    "Is" or maybe "was".

    Dying to get on the
AT&T LTE bandwagon, but prefer your phone to have some Samsung wizardry instead of HTC sensibility? Then take a look at the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket. This offshoot of the Galaxy S II is one of only two AT&T phones to take advantage of the new speeds, along with its launch partner the HTC Vivid. How does it stack up to the competition?
