    Default Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Obessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is a common condition - involving
endless checking, irrational worrying and a range of ritiual behaviours -
the bully within. Some suffers spend hours checking that they have
locked the back door, before they go out, others line up every day items
    obessessively (as Beckham does).
To those who understand, no explanation is necessary; to those who do not, none is possible.
    Nathaniel Branden, "Social Metaphysics."

Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is; treat a man as he can and should be and he
will become as he can and should be..

I shall be glad to hear from you, since questions have have always interested me; questions, not
debates - I have given those up long ago. Life itself is a quotation.

    Default Re: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

People with OCD tend to have an over-inflated sense of responsibility and a belief in magical thinking.
They assume that thinking something is bad can actually produce the harm that is feared. Most of us
tend to assume that thinking about the problem will make it worse. In fact, the opposite is true with
OCD. It is when individuals try to avoid thinking about the compulsion that the problems persist and
overtime become more difficult to solve.
To those who understand, no explanation is necessary; to those who do not, none is possible.
