Most things revolve around over-indulgence. Whilst I do not smoke (cigarettes, or marijuana) or drink, (alcohol) does not mean I have the right to be judgemental or critical with anyone using them. As I understand it, just as human body can crave more of a drug that is actually poisining it, so a society can crave weapons, or human organs which if freely traded would inflict social damage. Every form of addiction is bad, no matter whether the narcotic be alcohol or cigarettes.

Coming back from Peru some years ago, I brought back a few Coca leaves (remnants from going to Machu Picchu to help in altitude sickness). Even that was illegal.
