Default Is This What Mr. Manning Wanted For T&T?

When Patrick Manning announced that he wanted to start a National Youth Orchestra he got all kinds of criticism..... maybe this is the type of music he wanted to see Trinidad kids learn to play.

We need improved music education at individual school level first and foremost, and I don't mean the two extremes of a class sitting blowing on recorders or a big pan yard. We just need good music education that exposes students to be creative with whatever instruments they find an attraction toward. Larger scale orchestras will follow as a natural progression from there...

    I enjoyed the video though!

Agreed.... children should not be limited to certain musical experiences simply because 'someone else' decided what they should be exposed to.....part of the educational system should be to give them a wide and well rounded musical education.

Music when it sounds good, it is good. If the music does not say it, how can words say it for the music?

debates - I have given those up long ago. Life itself is a quotation.
