Yes it is true, not a rumor. Private facilities don't have the machinery nor resources that a public hospital has, and yes if ur case is to serious for the private to handle they will send u to the public. But like Vaio said, they treat u nicer in the private than public, d nurses in public is be ROUGH and play they buffin yuh up for all kinda nonsense! That Dr who works for sando and also privately - he know he gettin money from public no matter what crap he do - in private u think he could do that?

St Augustine private natural delivery is $2500 and c-section $7500. This does not include the dr's fee nor anaesthics etc. So yes I'm supposing it can go up to $20,000. But my husband and I are more than willing to pay that price.

I remember after i had my first child, one of the nurses told me that pregnancy is not a sickness and that i should not complain about how much pain i was inI looked her in the eyes and told her that if i wanted that kinda crappy treatment i would have gone to the General Hospital and that my fees are paying her salary. I also told her that i would make a complaint about her. If you see how fast an apology jumped outta her mouth and she didn't attend to me for the rest of my stay there

Any one had a baby delivered by Dr Sherene Kalloo ? What's her fee for having a baby C-Section ? and What is the expected Fee at St. Augustine Private ?
you could jus call the hospital or her office

Was just hoping someone who had an actual figure, when you call the office they usually give you an avg. or an estimate which is way off the actual figure.
this is what Aurea said earlier in the ched.St Augustine private natural delivery is $2500 and c-section $7500. This does not include the dr's fee nor anaesthics etc. So yes I'm supposing it can go up to $20,000

U can actually go to the hospital(st Augustine) and ask for more info - it's better than calling. Dr Kalloo I believe is not affiliated with st augustine private - so she wont be able to deliver there. My doctor - Dr Prakasbhan Persad - is affiliated with st augustine and he delivered my baby almost two weeks ago there. I had an emergency c-section, private is expensive - no doubt. U pay for everything that they used on u. What else do u need to know? Btw - dr Kalloo still pratices? For some reason I believe she doesn't anymore - doh know.
Aurea
My dr's fee was $14500 for emergency c-section. His fee's can run from $7000 for natural vaginal birth, around $10,000 for a planned c-section. Fee's vary.
Aurea
ooh so i was persad who was givin yuh trouble.. hmm
..I seriously don't care..
amzz
I know he told a few others that their baby too big and dem should do c section ..and d baby dem was normal weight.
..I seriously don't care..

Well honestly I think he set us(me and my husband)up for an emergency c-section. He started of with telling us the baby big and tellin me I have gd, then tellin me he'll induce labour and then to realize that the baby not exactly in the right position and then having an emergency C. U know before we went in, I was actually telling my husband to be prepared that I may have to have a C-section? So said , so done. And that's his max fee to eh - exclusive of hospital fee.
Aurea
aurea why did u have to induce?
..I seriously don't care..
amzz
Persad said women who have high blood glucose(he kept saying I have gd - although I didn't) if they go to 40 weeks it's possible for the baby to be still born. I doh know if he was trying to scare us or what - but I knew that it didn't matter cause at 38 weeks the feotus is considered full term. Also part of me was anxious to see my baby, so I went along with the induction.

Aurea, just curious..if you had that feeling why you didn't change doctors as your family practitioner suggested? Too late?
I joke around allot on this forum.... but trust me ...there is nothing funny about this thread
People.... i took the time to read every post on this thread....and honestly.... I am not impressed at all with the medical system in T&T.... I cannot believe that the government would allow a system where
1. due to lack of enforced standards....people actually have to shop around for good medical care and facility
2. that there are no pre-set rates for any one medical procedure...that doctors can bill what they like...at will
3.that only 'rich people' can get decent and compassionate health care
4.that doctors would gouge people with their rates....and use scare tactics in order to sell more expensive services.
5.that doctors would risk the lives of their patients by doing un-necessary procedures
6. that patients/customers still have to 'bully staff' to get the services they are paying for/
7. that the state owned hospitals have a reputation of .... rude staff, or worse killing people
MY GOD....DOES THE WORD ETHICS EVEN EXIST IN A T&T DICTIONARY
Why aren't you people up in arms over the type of things that go on in your hospitals....Why do you take it?
You have a PM ...a woman no less....who is flying her ass all over the world.... on your tax dollars....and you are spending the equivalent of a months family income to bring your child into the world.... a child who is expected to be the future of your nation....and in some cases...being treated like garbage in the process.
People get active.... do something ......demand something ..... you owe it to the next generation.
