    Default international students at UWI

    Hello,

i´m a german student of industrial engeenering and I think about studying abroad for one semester at the UWI.
It´s really hard to find informations from other students about the uwi , so I have some questions about the studies and things around. It would be really nice, if you could help me.

How is the quality of the lectures?
    How is the university equipped?
Can you tell me something about the life at UWI?
What do you think about the safety around the campuses?
It is really danger for an foreign student to go outside by night?

thank you very much for your help!

    greetings

Quality of lectures( I was there from 2001-2004, so it may have changed since then) depends on the faculty - Engineering seems to be good.
When u say " how is the unversity equipped" what do u mean exactly?
Life at uwi - u have to make it fun - but there is alot to do in and around campus, trinidad is a small country so it doesn't take u long to get around.
Safety? Well I was never robbed myself, but know lots of other's who were, there were also rapes at that time - but every where u go in this world - stuff happens. It's relatively safe once u know what ur about.
Dangerous to go out at nite? I eh know what tuh tell yuh about that one!
Just go to the uwi wibe site http://sta.uwi.edu/ get some info. If u do decided to come here - make planety local friends. Btw - there are lots of other students from around the world who choose to come here and they have loved it!

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'quality', but most classrooms on campus are equipped with modern AV resources. There are also a lot of online resources now; it depends on how the lecturers use them. You may find the 'older' lecturers using the whiteboard or an old projector, while the 'younger' ones would use powerpoint and other resources. classrooms
    How is the university equipped?
It is equipped a lot better now than it was 10 or even 5 years ago. Programs are more 'in context' now, meaning more 'hands-on' experience.
Can you tell me something about the life at UWI?
It is all about time management. There is always some sort of social activity going on, and lots of students get so caught up in those things, they almost forget they came to do a degree! ()
What do you think about the safety around the campuses?

Going out by yourself - yes. It also depends on where you are going and whether you'll be driving or travelling. As with any other country, there are places where one would be at a higher risk for getting robbed etc. You can ask other students more about that.

thank you very much for your help!

I wanted to ask God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.
