Sometimes I find cleaning these so called cooking aids more hassle than cooking the traditional way. I'm not collecting anymore kitchen gadgets since I realise I'm running out of electrical sockets to plug everything into.

If this device can make a 14" Dhal Puri roti, I'm buying at least 6 and opening up a roti shop. Better still, if it can make bara then I'm buying one for sure and make a killing selling Doubles in my neck of the woods.

kyat, the trick is to buy the gadgets that are useful.
I have a kitchen aid mixer- to knead my flour, and for the rare occasion that i make a cake.
I have a spice grinder- to grind my roasted/unroasted spices.
I have a blender- for well...sauces and soups
I have a hand blender- for things I dont want to put in the blender.
I have a rice cooker- kinda self explanatory.

I was tempted to get the new starbucks coffee maker. then i remembered I dont really drink coffee.

Everything is kept in the cupboard or pantry until I am ready to use it.

I have a mixer, a blender, hand blender and toaster (barely use that since I can use the grill in the oven or put a griddle pan on the cooker)that's it. I won't get anything else. If I want to grind herbs and spices the motar and pestle is there. I mostly make cakes without using either the mixer or blender. I did get myself an icecream maker but after having to find space in the freezer to put the inner container to freeze before use I got fed up and gave it away and made icecream the way my great grandmother did. She just used a bowl, whisk, freezer and time. My kitchen is small and my cupboards are already full. I can easily store away the rolling pin, pots and bowl when I've made roti and clean up quickly.

the kitchen aid to knead the flour is a god send
(doh mind the nay sayers who going to come in this thread and say otherwise )

i agree- the griddle pan does a much better job than the toaster. Especially if you have a grill press

not going to research if it's legit or not before I make this critique...I need appliance guru straps to critique my critique if she doesnt mind

the flour storage unit is only enough for a maximum of 4 small rotis? (if the gadget is the size of a small microwave?)

the shape of the roti cant be derived from rollers but will have to be from a press. Is there space in there for dough mixing, and pressing, and a heating plate with enough headroom for an inflated chapati? If you using the same heated surface to press and cook the roti then you'll need to cool the plate back to room temp to roll the cold dough

I am unsure about the darker bits on the surface of the chapati

gonna have to take the whole thing apart- rollers, kneading hooks, heated plates to clean- impractical

cant believe this machine, but then again, if you explain a land line telephone to me I'll tell you you lie

Dunno anything about this device but I hope it works. BTW: My wife has this device called a Bread Making Machine. She puts all the ingredients into the device and about an hour later, a beautiful and delicious loaf of bread is ready for consumption.

as expected, the reviewers said the bread was too dense, not sufficiently raised and good only for white bread and small rolls...still better than I have ever seen. My brown and whole meal breads take over 3 hrs!

Type and amount of yeast. Seems that my wife's breads always turn out pretty good. Didn't know about the Vitamin C tablet though. What does that do?

good tip indeed.... might just be worth unpacking and trying that bread maker someone gave me as a gift .... 10 YEARS AGO when I retired
(which by the way.... is still in the original packaging ..... sitting in my crawl space)

Oh, and in case you are wondering why I never unpacked or used it? Whea de hell ah go put it... ah hate appliances sittin on meh counter...and all dem odder appliances done full up meh kitchen cupboards...
