I had to go to Tobago on Saturday to attend a weeding. Not a big event or so I thought. A couple weeks ago I booked the flights and was scheduled to leave at 10am on the day. I go to the airport around 9am and checked in had some coffee and than cleared security around 930am. There were quite a few people in the lounge and the wife noted that there were two flights obviously going around the same time. Ten O’clock rolled around and nothing happened. AT 10.10 I approached the agent and enquired as the status of the flight to which she advised that there was a delay. I asked her how long did she know that and she informed me that she knew “for a while now”. So I asked if that was the case why the agent at checking in said nothing—to which she replied in question “she did not tell you that?”.

Around 10.30am the flight which would have been previously delayed was called to board and they did and left. Around 11.15am we were called to board a plane—and you will see why I say “ a plane”. We did the required presentations and proceeded out the door in a long line to an aircraft parked in the extreme north north eastern part of the ramp. After what appeared to be 40% of the flight had walked the distance a man advised that this was the wrong aircraft and it was in fact the one parked just outside the door. I asked the very man if the knew what they were doing and were they sure we would make it to Tobago because they seemed rather confused and unfamiliar with flight. He advised me that the reason the issue of the aircraft arose was because we were all following each other. I did not at the time realize how prophetic my words would be.

The flight eventually took off and some 7-10 minutes into the voyage we were advised by the Captain that there was a warning light in the cockpit related to an issue in the hydraulics and that they have been advise by maintain ace to return to Piarco.

HYDRAULICS??? I am looking out at the wheel wells and wondering WDAID. The fella in the seat next to me has taken hold of the seat in front of him and is crushing it out of shape, my wife is looking at me for reassurance and I am wondering if this is a repeat of the nose landing of a couple years ago or worse.

We proceed along the runway heading west and I look down and see no emergency vehicles on the taxiway and I breathe a sigh of relief and as we turn for approach the wheels come down—well the back ones that I can see—at least we three-quarter ways there. Then I remember –was this not the same plane that they were repairing something in the rear of the fuselage while we were waiting in the lounge. It was. OK.

We disembark and are advised that we will be informed of our departure in due course. We get into the terminal and about five minutes in we are advised that an aircraft is being prepared an we will be boarding in about ten minutes. Ten minuets turn into 20 and then rain falls very heavily. All work comes to a standstill and some 20 minutes after we are advised ‘as you can see the rain is falling and we will have you out of here as soon as it is done” I am pissed at this point—what manner of nonsense is this? Caribbean Airlines doh have raincoats for its staff? We have to wait here until rain done?

The bottom line is I got to Tobago at 1.30pm and the wedding was scheduled for 2—I got a car went to the hotel and by the time my wife was ready we were left with no option but to go to the reception..

THANKS CARIBBEAN AIRLINES FOR BEING GREAT AT WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN DOING FOR SO MANY YEARS.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar yesterday expressed horror and outrage at the time and cost overruns at the still incomplete Scarborough Hospital. “This is a scandal,” Persad-Bissessar said during a tour of the structure, which has been under construction since 2002 and was originally budgeted to cost $136 million. The Prime Minister added: “I am horrified and outraged at how much this facility is costing taxpayers and the time it is taking to have the project completed.” Persad-Bissessar toured the unfinished 100-bed hospital during the lunch break of the intense four-day government workshop, being held at Coco Reef Hotel in Tobago.
The cost could rise to as high as $760 million, Health Minister Therese Baptiste-Cornelis revealed. She added that the March 2011 planned completion date may also be pushed back by several months.
“This could cost taxpayers more than $7 million a bed,” she stressed.
The minister said this would be the result of matters stemming from the inception of the project. The current contractor is China Railway Construction Company (CRCC). The cost overrun would be more than $600 million, Baptiste-Cornelis noted. Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar stated: “This is unacceptable..............

Really puts a damper on one's Sunday morning.

This person, it seems, exists for the sole purpose of washing his / her mouth on Trinis and Trinidad.
From reading a few of his / her posts in the past, I gather he / she is a born Trini, who emigrated some years ago to what he / she refers as a "civilised" country.

This person (who goes by the nom de plume "Amber Lamps"), reminds me a lot of a poster here called Maria Fernandes.
Hear nah man, dem people not easy, the thing about it is she was sooooo freaking annoying but sweet at the same time. I was caught up in between wondering what she looks like and wanting to tell her to hurry da eff up. A 2 minute call turned into 20 minutes. She kept repeating things asking me to verify every effin thing over. OMG OMG OMG. But she sounded soooo sweet I felt trapped, dare I say I was somewhat enchanted that after a while I thought we were having a real conversation but like in Hades.

How do you deal with your cold callers? You know those people you don't know and never gave your phone number to who call trying to sell you any and everything or want you to take part in a survey or a charity looking for donations. They may get you phone number through third parties, info companies etc. If you bought something requiring giving contact details, you can garantee a few new somebodies will get your number, even if you requested not to be contacted about new products or similiar stuff.

I've had a few calls today. When I first moved into a place of my own I'd be polite and chat a bit letting them know gently that I'm not interested. These days I don't even apologise. I state my disinterest, say goodbye and hang up. Well one caller asked for me by name as they do and I did ID myself and stated that I'm not interested in buying anything or giving out information. The guy hung up! Usual I have to say goodbye and put the the phone down on them.

A few calls I've recieved are from a telephone company who supplied my phone line 3 years ago. I'd taken out a years contract to see if they were an improvement on my current supplier. After the year was up, exactly a year, I concluded that they were not better than my current supplier and did not renew the contract. They still want to know why I left them:mad: The last call recently I just said I left because I chose to do so.

The Move to Depopulate the Planet

By Stephanie R. Pasco

It is my intention to give you clips from documents, many from the United Nations that prove there is a plan

to depopulate this planet. I will also provide quotes from various people and organizations that further show

this agenda is afoot. I pray the guidance of the Lord God Almighty will be with me in this pursuit to warn

others of this dark plot against humanity.

Everything written in this paper is easily verifiable. It may take some time and effort, but I took great

pains to make this paper as accurate as I possibly could.

The depopulation agenda is based on nature worship, or Gaia worship. In Genesis, God clearly told Adam and

Eve, and then Noah and his family to go forth and multiply to fill the earth. Nowhere in the Bible does God

rescind that clearly spoken commandment. Therefore man is attempting to supercede the command of the Lord God

in heaven: The Creator! I ask you, who knows more about the state of the earth, the created, or the Creator?

The basis for the depopulation agenda is a standard all elitist’s hold dear. This standard is called:

The Hegelian Dialectic:

Problem – Reaction- Solution

Create the Problem

Cause a Reaction

Offer a Solution

You will see exactly how they have created the problem; caused a reaction so widespread it is really quite

impressive how successful they have been; and offered a solution: A deadly solution.

I ask that you please make an attempt to distribute this paper everywhere you possibly can. The time grows

short and so many are going to be caught unawares. By getting the word out, you may be able to prevent

someone from needless pain and suffering.

William Benton, Assistant U.S. Secretary of State at UNESCO 1946:

(UNESCO is the United Nations Education, Science and Cultural Organization)

“As long as a child breathes the poisoned air of nationalism, education in world-mindedness can produce only

precarious results. As we have pointed out, it is frequently the family that infects the child with extreme

nationalism. The schools therefore use the means described earlier to combat family attitudes that favor

jingoism (nationalism)…we shall presently recognize in nationalism the major obstacle to development of world

mindedness. We are at the beginning of a long process of breaking down the walls of national sovereignty.

UNESCO must be the pioneer.” (Emphasis mine throughout)

Club of Rome, The First Global Revolution, 1991:

"In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global

warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill (this is absolute proof that man made global

warming is a fabrication)…. But in designating them as the enemy, we fall into the trap of mistaking symptoms

for causes. All these dangers are caused by human intervention and it is only through changed attitudes and

behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy, then, is humanity itself."

Mikhail Gorbachev:

"We must speak more clearly about sexuality, contraception, about abortion, about values that control

population, because the ecological crisis, in short, is the population crisis. Cut the population by 90% and

there aren't enough people left to do a great deal of ecological damage."

Aldous Huxley, Brave New World 1946:

“There is, of course, no reason why the new totalitarians should resemble the old. Government by clubs and

firing squads, by artificial famine, mass imprisonment and mass deportation, is not merely inhumane (nobody

cares much about that nowadays); it is demonstrably inefficient and in an age of advanced technology,

inefficiency is the sin against the Holy Ghost.”

Aldous Huxley, Lecture named Population Explosion 1959:

“…Let us ask ourselves what the practical alternatives are as we confront this problem of population growth.

One alternative is to do nothing in particular about it and just let things go on as they are…The question is:

Are we going to restore the balance in the natural way, which is a brutal and entirely anti-human way, or are

we going to restore it in some intelligent, rational, and humane way…Try to increase production as much as

possible and at the same time try to re-establish the balance between the birth rate by means less gruesome

than those which are used by nature – by intelligent and human methods?…There are colossal difficulties in the

way of implementing any large-scale policy of limitation of population; whereas death control is extremely

easy under modern circumstances, birth control is extremely difficult. The reason is very simple: death

control – the control, for example, of infectious diseases – can be accomplished by a handful of experts and

quite a small labour force of unskilled persons and requires a very small capital expenditure.”

Barry Commoner, Making Peace with the Planet:

"There have been 'triage' proposals that would condemn whole nations to death through some species of global

'benign neglect'. There have been schemes for coercing people to curtail their fertility, by physical and

legal means that are ominously left unspecified. Now we are told that we must curtail rather than extend our

efforts to feed the hungry peoples of the world. Where will it end?"

Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen, April 28, 1997, Testimony before Congressional Committee:

"There are some reports, for example, that some countries have been trying to construct something like an

Ebola Virus, and that would be a very dangerous phenomenon, to say the least. Alvin Toeffler has written about

this in terms of some scientists in their laboratories trying to devise certain types of pathogens that would

be ethnic specific so that they could just eliminate certain ethnic groups and races; and others are designing

some sort of engineering, some sort of insects that can destroy specific crops. Others are engaging even in an

eco- type of terrorism whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the

use of electromagnetic waves. So there are plenty of ingenious minds out there that are at work finding ways

in which they can wreak terror upon other nations. It's real, and that's the reason why we have to intensify

our efforts, and that's why this is so important."

Jacques Cousteau UNESCO Courier 1991:

“In order to save the planet it would be necessary to kill 350,000 people per day.”

Jacques Cousteau, Population: Opposing Viewpoints:

“If we want our precarious endeavor to succeed, we must convince all human beings to participate in our

adventure, and we must urgently find solutions to curb the population explosion that has a direct influence on

the impoverishment of the less-favoured communities. Otherwise, generalized resentment will beget hatred, and

the ugliest genocide imaginable, involving billions of people, will become unavoidable.”

“Uncontrolled population growth and poverty must not be fought from inside, from Europe, from North America,

or any nation or group of nations; it must be attacked from the outside – by international agencies helped in

the formidable job by competent and totally non-governmental organizations.”

Bertrand Russell, The Impact Of Science On Society 1953

“I do not pretend that birth control is the only way in which population can be kept from increasing... War...

has hitherto been disappointing in this respect, but perhaps bacteriological war may prove more effective. If

a Black Death could be spread throughout the world once in every generation survivors could procreate freely

without making the world too full... The state of affairs might be somewhat unpleasant, but what of that?

Really high-minded people are indifferent to happiness, especially other people's... There are three ways of

securing a society that shall be stable as regards population. The first is that of birth control, the second

that of infanticide or really destructive wars, and the third that of general misery except for a powerful

minority...”

Henry Kissinger, 1978:

“U.S. policy toward the third world should be one of depopulation”

David Rockefeller, 2000:

“We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will

accept the New World Order.”

David Rockefeller: Memoirs 2002

Founder of the CFR:

“We wield over American political and economical institutions. Some even believe we are part of a secret

cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as

‘internationalists’ and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political

structure, one world, if you will. If that’s the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.”

It is so very commonplace now in T&T for there to be websites and portals for every government department, Ministry, and NGO. And we have been urged, to the point of being pestered, by various new Ministers all saying they need, want and welcome the public's suggestions on anything and everything that may help them to "do a better job" for us. (The AG, "Boy Wonder" even asks us and asks us, on Facebook).

But has anyone taken the time and trouble to email AND then never received anything of an acknowledgement? To say nothing of a thanks!

Naturallly it is rude not to acknowledge any comment or suggestion, made in good faith to these employees being fed at the taxpayers' feedtrough. But to me more intriguing, just how likely is it that our emails ever reach anywhere beyond the "delete" button.

And hypothetically, lets just say that one of us taxpaying peasants actually has something valid, practical, important and time sensitive to put before a PP Minister, just how likely is it that it could pass the scrutiny of a "PNM til ah dead" clerical worker or "Permanent Under-Something", even if it reached that far up the tree?

By default, the country may be comfortably believing that it has had a chance to put forwards a valid and useful helping word to those in Ministerial authority, maybe for example about a thief on the govt payroll, and boy aren't there enough of those around, whilst in reality it's no more than a phoney mail slot in a door, ...with a garbage can positioned right behind it.

on the breakfast programme, "first up" on c television this morning, i learned that the ministry of the arts and multiculturalism has expanded independence celebrations this year, with concerts and fireworks displays in EVERY REGIONAL CORPORATION throughout the country.

good stuff on the concerts.

but FIREWORKS? really? why?
clearly my tax money is LITERALLY going up in smoke.

my vehement protest of fireworks is derived from the problems that it creates every year with animals. independence, divali, new years eve - all occasions when many frightened animals escape, some onto our roads and highways, leading to a tragic future or even death.

at independence it is usually confined to port-of-spain, and many responsible pet-owners secure their pets properly and also acquire veterinarian approved sedatives in cases where fireworks are particularly distressing to sensitive animals.

if this will be happening across the country this year, i really hope that pet-owners will be taking similar precautions with their animals.

sadly this has NOT been properly publicized, so many pet-owners won't even know WHEN to take these measures.

the events will be occurring THROUGHOUT the weekend, and of course i could find no schedule in the newspaper or on any government website.

i found this article in today's newsday: http://newsday.co.tt/features/0,126524.html
This year, the Government is spending more than $3 million on Independence Day celebrations. For the first time, there will be celebrations in all of the 14 regional corporations throughout Trinid...ad in addition to the usual activities in Port-of-Spain and in Scarborough, Tobago. There are plans for fireworks and cultural presentations.

These activities will begin from tomorrow, with cultural events planned by the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo and San Juan/Laventille Regional Corporations. On Sunday, Independence activities will be hosted by the Mayaro and Penal/Debe Regional Corporations and on Monday there will be festivities at the Tunapuna/Piarco, Siparia and Princes Town Regional Corporations.

On Independence Day, August 31, celebrations will take place in Port-of-Spain, San Fernando, Arima and Point Fortin.

this week, cop san fernando councillor, navi muradali has been spreading the word via his facebook page of several animals at the san fernando pound that were scheduled to be put-down, encouraging peiople to visit the pound to adopt the animals. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...6983522&ref=mf

how many more animals will befall this fate after these fireworks displays throughout the country over the course of the weekend?

i hope that all pet owners remember to protect their pets during the fireworks shows across the country. please keep them inside - and if needed see a veterinarian for meds. along with the cats and dogs, please don't forget birds and our smaller fur covered friends.

Okay, so I was making a thread in the technology board about the laptops coming in September as part of a Gov't contract.

This story was being covered by all the major daily papers, see below:

http://guardian.co.tt/news/general/2...83m-gopeesingh GUARDIAN
http://newsday.co.tt/news/0,126408.html NEWSDAY
http://www.trinidadexpress.com/news/...101534073.html EXPRESS

I can't say I've ever noticed this level of conflicting reporting before. Bullet points

The Express is claiming the deal is for 24,000 laptops. Both other daily papers are saying 20,400

wda

The Guardian article has a subsection on "specs" that does not contain actual specs

Numerous references to "faster" this and "larger" that by the minister, but none of the newspapers attempt to clarify what was being compared.

Neither the Guardian or Newsday either provided the correct context for those statements

and the facts

EXPRESS & NEWSDAY: In addition, Gopeesingh said "all 151 secondary schools will have information technology technicians assigned to each one of them"

Guardian: "He said to accommodate the new technology, 151 IT technicians would be assigned to schools"

Does that mean there is 1 IT technician per school? or is some guardian journalist running wild with his notes here?

going back to bullet points

nobody explains what the schools "bandwidth connection" being upgraded from 3G to 5G is supposed to mean. Some brilliant person at newsday 'clarified' a 'G' to mean a 'gigabyte',... which not only is non standard notation, but makes no sense at all in this context

the guardian still has "faster hard speed" under specs.. do they at least eyeball this stuff before they publish it

how about this one, which just seems to be worded strangely

Gopeesingh said security also included blocking certain sites from children accessing.

sounds like something ms word would split out when you click autocorrect
---

I don't claim to be some good english speaker. but these editors are supposedly trained and educated and being paid to look at and fix crap before it gets published.

where are they are why dont they care

........Our first priority is nationals, but if they are not coming out, we will have to go foreigners.” .....

Well, will your local doctors address this need, or would they put their own lucrative needs ahead of the 'national need'?
what say you?
