View Full Version : HD Radio in Trinidad
Hey guys, I was flicking through the radio with my tuner when I noticed this:

There's apparently an HD (Hybrid Digital) radio station in Trinidad, STAR 94.7 (website (www.star947tt.com), online streaming available). I can get the digital signal, but I have to hold the antenna just a special way for it to pick up fully (the FM is solid though).
Anyone else found or know of any other HD stations locally?
I included a TT$ bill in the picture for verification purposes. ;)

Just give it some time...there is a market for high end audio particularly in automotive and home theater...so there would be a base of customers capable of getting the signal.
I'm already seeing some of the Pioneer car decks (DEH-5200HD and 7200HD) carrying HD radio tech. Surely somebody else is picking this up in Trinidad.

There is an application that I downloaded and installed on my Iphone called WunderRadio. It cost me about $6.99 but it allows me to pick up a few Trini internet radio stations.
I not too sure if there is a version for the Black Berry.

I'm sure there's a cheaper or free program out there that will do that.
Note the station I listed in the OP has a .m3u8 link.. it will load and play on an ipod touch/iphone natively.

You could get a VPN setup and run it from that. I'm personally using VyperVPN (https://www.goldenfrog.com/vyprvpn/vpn-service-provider) to get around it (can also watch LOST and shows on abc/nbc/cbs/lifetime online too).

*quick updates
-So far, 94.7 the STAR remains the only HD radio station in T&T that I know of.
-93.5 FM has some sort of RDS going on- You can see scrolling text and song titles, but there is no improvement in audio quality nor does it show up as 'HD'.
