Hi. my name is Dale and i live in Michigan located in the United States. The reason for for my post is that I have a very unusual hobby of growing hot peppers and I am having a problem locating the seeds of a few species native to trinidad. Is there anyone in this community that could help me locate some seeds? I would gladly pay for posatage and the seeds, any help would be appreciated.

Hi Dale and welcome!
One of the most common is sold here at a lot of Supermarkets and is known a Habaneros. Also there others that is sold as ornamentals. I know Walmart usually carries 3 or 4 different species in the Spring.

Thanks peanut, there are two peppers that I am looking for that are native to Trinidad they are the Trinidad Scorpion and a pepper called 7-Pot or 7-Pod. The Habenero varieties are mainly from Mexico and are not native to Trinidad. I am able to get almost any variety of peppers here in the states but I am having no luck getting the peppers from Trinidad. please keep your eyes and ears open and thank you for your response.

Seven Pot is one of those sold at Walmart. I got mine there. Also habanero is very big in T&T with farmers, always knew it at "big pepper" I never knew it as habanero until I came to the States.

Does it actually say 7-pot on the pack of seeds? it must be only sold in your area because they sure do not sell any peppers like those at are Walmart. Are there any nurseries around where you live that may grow some of the Trinidad peppers?

I am sure there are nurseries here that grow the ornamental kind like 7 pot. I have not seen any of the packet of seeds, just the plants.
If you look carefully when Walmart, K-Mart, Lowe's and even Home Depot, when they bring out the young vege plants for Spring, check in the pepper section where the Bell Peppers are. Look at the little tags with the pics on them.

they do not sell exotic peppers at any of those stores, ever. the peppers that I am referring to come from Trinidad and Tobago they are native to Trinidad and Tobago meaning that is where they originated. the Scotch Bonnet is not a habanero but is the same species as the hab, habs come from Mexico and Scotch Bonnets come from the Caribbean.

Not doubting, just talking from over 15 years of experience they do not have any exotic peppers at any retail big box stores in this area or anywhere in the states for that matter. these are highly sought after pepper seeds if they had them here i would not have to inquire elswhere. There are people in the us that have and grow these but it is not easy to get seeds I just thought that originating from where you live they might be more easily accessible.

Pod, I make Trini peppersauce and sell to 2 Caribbean Restaurants here in NC and also to some Trinis on the side, I grow them myself from March - Nov. Maybe where you live the weather is not really condusive hence the named stores by you do not carry them, here in NC they do.
Dancerboy may have contacts in Fl who may have, you can check with him.

Dale eh have nutten to worry about ... He is a man [according to his profile] and all he want is pepperseeds. He don't want to be iiin-harmony with no one  .
And even if he is, women and young girls cannot be too careful with men in cyberspace who wants to befriend them, and then have the men become beligerent and offensive when information is required for checks with Law Enforcement a a pre-condition for any kind of friendship. There must be a lot to hide ..
My hats off to Ted Bundy .. at least he was savvy enough to get women to trust him without having background checks done on him

peanut, so you are in North carolina? and they sell 7-pot seeds at your local walmart? If you grow the scorpions or the 7-pot what are the chances of me getting seeds from you? I would be happy to buy them or even trade some other types of pepper seeds for them, I have around 100 different varieties of pepper seeds and I would be more than happy to trade you.

Dale, Yeah I am in NC. I should be in Walmart later today if my daughter comes home [My vehicle was totalled on Thursday and won't have one until Monday]. I will check for the seeds. If I get it, you will get it at no charge.
BTW, have you ever checked online to seed if you can purchase it through the website? Try http://www.ParkSeed.com and http://www.Shopping.com, they have a wide variety.

Some people are just " comess" makers. You know who you are and I shall not mention you by name because I do not recognize folly and the authors of folly.
You have made false allegations accusing my son of " Stalking YOU " which turned out to be as you know a bunch of lies and you have also made allegations claiming that me and my son is the same person but again it turned out to be nothing but lies and here you are again " putting on the Cap which you, your self have fitted to your head based on your very guilt" no one referred to you but you had to confess.
You have this habit of reporting people to the Moderators for harrassment but yet here you are mentioning me and my son when we have nothing to do with you or say to you why don't you just grow up and get lost from our lives because we do not wnat to have any dealings with you whatesoever.
To those of you who like truth, justice and fair play know this: My post was written based upon my experience. If someone had warned me not to reply to anyone who sends you a Private message and then pulls it back because it is simply a trick to get you to write asking what is up and then the mess follows I will have been warned and not ever reply and also warned my son.
So every new person who comes on here I shall warn them that all that glitters is not gold and never, ever, give out any of their personal information here to anyone and if anyone ever asks for it report it ( save the message ) immediately to the Moderators and they will know what to do with it.
Now why should such a Post offend anyone ?
It did not offend the wise Solachica and Satya so why did it offend anyone at all ?
It is great advice and everyone knows it so if you are offended and if it fits your nefarious pattern of behaviour and your ulterior motives then ...get away from me please because you too darn snaky! Leave me alone I do not know you nor want to know you!
No matter what you write I shall not reply nor even bother with you because I shall not ever be reading any post which you write and I do not recognise " Comess Makers", please, get a life and blow way nuh!

Mr.Dale, greetings and thank you very much for your post to wit your search for " Native Trinidad and Tobago Peppers"
Trinidad and Tobago is a beautiful place with very nice people who are decent and very lawabiding and very, very, helpfull.
We treat visitors very nicely and welcome them with Caribbean charm and hospitality.
I made a few telephone calls and I found out that this is one of the best places where you may be able to get the information which you need and everything about " Native Trinidad Peppers".
The website listed at the end of this letter.
Go to that website.Click on " Contact us" and you will see various means of contacting the Faculty and they will answer all your questions about " Native Trinidad Peppers " or direct you where to get the best information ( and do not forget" Tobabgo Peppers") and direct you where to get the seeds and how to grow them etc and you may well be able to contribute to their body of knowledge about other peppers.
I may be wrong ,Dale, but that is the best I could come up with.
You also have some great ideas from other Trinidadians and Tobagonians here.
The way I read your post is that you are seeking " Native Trinidad Peppers " and not how to make " Pepper sauce " ?
Hope this helps also.
