When you put the power on, the lights would blink because there was only 1 fifteen amp fuse feeding the whole house. It took about 2-3 mins to warm up before you could start hearing anything. Some people had a long wire (about 25 feet) running on top of the house? You remember Radio-Gram? - Looks like a big liquor cabinet with a radio and Grammaphone (record player). My uncle had one of those mechanically wind up type grammaphone.
