How do you feel about maintaining a platonic relationship with your ex spouse or significant other.

I suppose you mean ex-significant other as well right?
Well, why did you two split in the first place then? Wasnt it an issue of trust?

You mean like demi moore and bruce willis?

I haven't seen much people break up and remain friends. Most times you don't want to see tht person again.
Some becos of kids they wud try to maintain some sorta contact.

it might be kinda weird....esp if you both have other ppl in your lives....

i can see it happening because of the kids though....

I hope i get this right, here goes. In first place you married the girl/guy for love but tings did not work out for you both which ended in divorce. But does the love you both had died? And that my friend is the million dollar question.

i'm on good terms with my exes (atleast i think so..well maybe except 1) and my present relationships at the time have never had a problem with it...
we moved on amicably..and we mature enuff to keep a safe distance but doh have to avoid each other at fetes, social gatherings etc...if dey need something and i could help i will..an vice versa...

When a marriage is not working it is better for them to depart on good terms. Once the fight starts It is the lawyers that laugh all the way to the bank. I know 2 cases where the lawyers were "promoting" divorce and telling their clients they will take the other side to the cleaners but in the end they both get cleaned. I have seen so many times where separated couples having financial difficulties because lawyer fees have eaten up all their nest money. Some co-workers had already planned extended working years past retirement age, a time when they should be enjoying the golden age.

My ex and I are very good friends now and we get along better than when we were married. I suppose somewhere along the way he became Americanized and realized that having a woman as yuh wife don't make her his property, and she did not give up the right to be her own person or the right to her independence.

It's never a good idea to try to remain friends with an ex. :|

Too many exes to worry about. But to make it short I have no problems with remaining friends with an ex-sig-other. Too much energy to slash car tyre and send hate emails and venomous texts :?

 not that I ever did those things much. :(

Why do you say that Scorp?

I have 1 ex-husband to whom I was married for 28 years, and with whom I have children and 1 grand child. I have 1 ex-fiance Winston [Gypsy] Peters and 1 other who is member of the Gov't. I am good friends with them and Winston is still my very best friend.

Yeah, I was in '73. He is one of the nicest, sweetest and most wonderfully perfect gentlemen alive today. Unfortunately at that time I was not ready to leave T&T to live in the US. He left with my Blessings. He now has a terrific and wonderful lady as his wife. Marva is a genuinely beautiful person on the inside and I couldn't be happier for him.

Nice to know I'm not the only Nomad on the forum... :D

.....to those who really think it's a good idea to remain frineds with an ex, I have a question for you, are you willing to listen to your ex talk about problems in their current relationship, and are you prepared to give advice on the same when asked ?

For me that would just be too weird... :?
