I recently had a chance to use this piece of software and must say that i'm really impressed with it.
So much so that i now consider it a must have companion to a digital camera.

Here you can see a quick before lightroom on the left and after on the right.

There's a a lot more that could be done with this software, so you phototaker-outers, give it a try.

Granted all of these things can be done with the full blown Photoshop CS application, however Lightroom puts everything into a nice easy to use package.

Edit: The after photo looks like it could still use a bit of correction but you get the ...picture...ahem lol

Try Picassa by Google. It's easy, has many features the majority of people will need to correct their pics, and best of all: It's FREE

Photoshop is the best general-purpose graphics application out there. Everyone from photographers to Web designers to pre-press experts to feature film special effects companies use Photoshop. But because it can be all of these things to all of these people, it's not designed specifically for the way a photographer needs to work. For example, when you're just back from a shoot, you typically want to work through your images quickly, sorting them and applying corrections. Lightroom makes that post-production much faster because you don't have to hassle with open and save dialogs, or with keeping track of files.
