Hi, has anyone imported computer parts/accessories from the USA?
I have recently got a skybox, but am not sure if Trinidad customs will impose duties/vat on these items...
Can anyone share their experiences?
Thanks

I order parts from www.newegg.com , amazon.com and other sites .
through the skybox , most items will escape taxes , i'v never been charged tax per se on anything i brought in from a laptop , to video cards , motherboards etc.

But customs is known to sieze some items when they feel like and charge duties , my brother imported a high end camera once , and customs wanted 5000 tt for him to get it...

So it is a mixed bag , but in most cases once your items are smallish and light you should not attract any attention.

There isnt supposed to be any duty on computer parts per se i think.

Camera is considered video equipment and has a 30% duty on it. Next time have a relative bring it down.

Computer parts and systems are good once declared under 1000 US which you can get the person you buy it from to modify the value for your purposes. Just ensure to tell them your country is corrupt and the product will go missing if its declared over 1000 US.

Thanks alot guys, you've been a great help
All of the parts I want to get are below 1000US separately so I think I should do fine.
I read elsewhere that newegg does not accept international credit cards. I was planning to get my items from Amazon because of that, but I will try newegg now.

Yep i too would use a solid state drive for my OS if i were building a system anytime soon.

Just use the SATA for your data.

The pieces to be ordered www.newegg.com, amazon.com and other sites.
The Skybox, most items will be to evade taxes, I'v never pay taxeson everything I've done in the way of a laptop computer, video cards, motherboards, etc.

But Customs is aware that some terms to intervene if they feel their taxes, my brother has a high-end camera, once introduced andCustoms 5000 TT wanted to get him ...

So it should be a mixture, but in most cases, if your products arevery small and light you do not notice.
