We not moving with that, Mr Singh
Thursday, October 4th 2007
The election race is on and understandably some politicians will get carried away with the moment. What is not understandable or acceptable is the verbal abuse of citizens as demonstrated by the Congress of the People's Ganga Singh.
I know some of the women in the leadership of the CoP and therefore know that by now they would all have individually and/or collectively reprimanded Mr Singh for his despicable behaviour on the platform some nights ago as he sought to assert his masculinity and his political brawn by denigrating Minister Camille Robinson-Regis.
A public admonition of Mr Singh is still necessary for two reasons. This is not the first time that Mr Singh has made insensitive and disrespectful utterances about citizens of this country. He seems bent on distinguishing himself as a foul-mouthed politician needing a leash. Mr Singh and any other politician that demonstrate intolerance and disregard for citizens and our combined intelligence should be stopped.
Secondly, Mr Singh has not for the first time publicly displayed a disrespect for women which is frightening when one considers that Mr Singh is a legislator and has to make decisions for all citizens.
It is wonderful to have freedom of speech but we all know that this must be tempered with tolerance, respect and justice. I therefore serve notice on Mr Singh and all politicians, to desist from using women's mis-fortunes as platform fodder. As for Mr Ganga, I will only say, not at all Mr Ganga, we not moving on with that.

In my opinion, Mr. Singh is a huge liability to COP or any other political party he belongs to. I do not for a moment condone his belittling of another Minister under the guise that...... 'he just got caught up in the moment'; what it does show is that he is a very undisciplined, common man with absolutely no class.
While I can understand the need to have someone as uncouth as that around (unfortunately he has a dedicated ethnic following), he should be relegated to some behind the scenes position where his unlicensed tongue cannot do any further damage.
On a side note, if the people in attendance appreciated the verbal attack he made on another Honourable Minister, what does that say of the people of Trinidad, and the COP supporters in particular? Hummmmmm!!!!
ummmm.
What did the man say ? Anybody ?

He said something like all Camille talking about these days is she 'pampalam' and he eh want to know anything about it. He was refering to her well publicised gynecological problems.

Regardless of how inappropriate her topic may have been, someone wise should have told Ganaga ........ " you didn't have to go there, you didn't have to go there ".
The man needs to have someone critique his every word prior to him uttering it, if the COP is to survive this election.

I'm not conding whatever Singh said, but I have to ask, why did Camille make her gynecological problems pulic in the first place ?

Ah don't tink his statement was about women in general, rather a stab at Camille! Beside, what so wrong with making a comment about her

Ah jest hope all yoh naysayers no dat this is called politics, an its election time!

I was at the meeting and what he said is that he didn't want to hear about her pampalam, what he wanted to hear about was the purchases of jewelry, hair pieces and lighting fixtures with the Government credit card, aka our money. I agree with the others that it was not disrespectful to women. It was not even disrespectful to Camille. Camille sought to publicly explain her pampalam when she should have been explaining her misuse of public funds.

I dont think a political platform is the place for these comments. What happen to having and showing some class? How does that make him more respectable or helps his cause? Next thing we might hear some idot talking about Kamla's breasts bec she drew attention to them while publicising her cancer scare. What is so difficult about focussing on the issues of the day? There are so many! And Camille's personal issues arent one of them. Must there always be new lows in the mudslinging? Steups...
And for those who said its no big deal...it is. Bec what u let ppl get away with dictates how they will continue to behave in future and how they treat u. Its what leads to the Larry Achong scenario. I expect better from the ppl that hope to represent me.

Did not hear the comment but after listening to the COP many times, their best speakers don't have big names. The last time I heard him speak was when he spoke about the "full bull". He does not address serious issues and is more like a Private Investigator.
ah really tink he shouldn't go dere... personally attackin ppl and their private issues is ah no no... talk about issues... policies... and things that will make a real impact on society not dem stupidness

Ganga is one of the many liabilities of the COP
Hulsie and Devant come a close 2nd and 3rd...but i digress....
THe comment was innappropriate..but not meant as a generalization to women...i think that's a stretch to say he has denigrated women everywhere...
he has been on the back seat for so long...he has forgotten that people are actually listening to what he sais...

Ent Kamla could have fixed Ganga Singh pipe since he was Public Utilities Minister at one time. Remember Kamla said so on a platform a couple years ago.
