The woman was taken from her La Romain home this morning during a robbery.

The couple was robbed of 6,000 dollars.
Before escaping the men took Ms. Sammy and her blue Almera car.

Macco,
I too had hoped it was over. I annot begin to imagine the trauma families of kidnap victims have to endure, not to mention the victims themselves. It really is beyond me that in this small country nobody could come out and say something. Ah wonder if the blimp cant help.
Oh my sorry to hear that eh and to think I just met some folks from pond street this summer

You hoped it was over? Why? Cause for elections the criminals were asked to ease off so they could go on another 5 year spree?
Please, if you did not see this coming you are as short sighted as a C*P supporter.
How much does it take to put out an SOS and cordon off every inch of T&T in five and ten miles blocks for emergency searches? How hard it that to do? Is our government made up of just a bunch of jokers? Well, people are just not laughing.

why aren't you all celebrating, ah mean the crime is going up right? You know the sad part about the people who supported the DLP and all it's subsequent offsprings is they only get concern when someone from their clan is harmed, otherwise they does be cheering the carnage as though it's a friking football game, just so they could talk about what the government isn't doing. What happened
* Gunmen storm house
* Took away Josanne Sammy
* Ransom of $200,000 demanded
BY RADHICA SOOKRAJ
Kidnapping victim Josanne Sammy escaped from her abductors last night, almost 17 hours after she was reportedly snatched from her home in La Romaine.
Members of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad reportedly found her at about 7 pm on Ragoonanan Road, Enterprise, Chaguanas.
Police said no ransom was paid.
Sammy, 23, of Pond Trace, La Romaine, is the common-law wife of used-car dealer Riyad Baksh, who owns R&H Baksh Transport.
The kidnappers had demanded a $200,000 ransom for her safe release.
The police were were up to late last night probing the circumstances under which she was taken from her home around 2 am.
In an interview yesterday—before Sammy was found—Baksh said the kidnappers called the family three times. He had also accused the police of not doing enough.
He claimed the police failed to trace the calls or track the suspects.
Sammy and Baksh have been living together the past five years. They have no children.
Baksh said officers questioned him (before his wife was found) for hours at San Fernando Police Headquarters.
Anti-kidnapping Squad officers were not present at the family’s home when the Guardian visited at 9 am.
Recalling the incident, Baksh said he was asleep with Sammy when he heard a strange sound outside their home. He thought it was caused by thieves.
He said he switched on the lights and began making a racket inside in an attempt to ward off any intruders.
He said, “The dogs started to bark and I took a torch and opened the door to go downstairs.”
He said as he reached the staircase, a gunman accosted him.
“He told me to get back inside,” Baksh said.
Baksh said the gunmen tied him up with duct tape and ransacked the house for valuables.
Then they dragged Sammy from her bed and also tied her up with duct tape.
Baksh said the men dragged Sammy to another room.
“I could hear her screaming but I could not do anything ,” Baksh said.
He said the men stayed about 20 minutes in the house.
Baksh said the men stole $4,000 worth of jewelry and $6,000.
They then put Sammy into Baksh’s Nissan Almera and drove off with her.
Baksh said he managed to free himself shortly afterwards.
Baksh’s father Haniff said that around 5 am, he received a call from a man saying he wanted a $200,000 ransom.
The elder Baksh said the man warned him not to alert the police or the media.
Haniff said about half an hour later, he received a second call.
Sammy, he said, was allowed to speak with him.
He said she begged him to pay the ransom.
He said his daughter-in-law told him to withdraw $30,000 which she held in a joint account with her common-law husband.
Haniff said his family was unable to raise $200,000 and had only started their used-car business about three years ago.

and you think the people who are responsibe for this should be treated like humans and with respect???
They should not be allowed to remain in society!
but TS, i thought we agreed on that point on another thread and we also agreed with the death penalty or did you have a change of heart and want to boil them in OIL again!!!????

Gosh i was reading about the killling of that 15 yr old and it is soooo sad that the police refused to help the family when they first reported her missing....they are saying that the police said she ran away with some man....now that she is dead...i wonder what some of those officers think now...
there is some 24hr period before the police start looking for a missing person..my question is - why think abt saving your resources compared to saving a life....

KFC spicy- as long as those OLD heads remain in govt there will be theft!
What trinidad needed was a New party with a proper vision, a govt that Genuinely cares about Trinidad and its citizens, and not just the same OLD heads that interested in POWER , CONTROL and MONEY!
COP tried to make a difference, but when time came to put finger to vote, many people went back to their ROOTS and race as usual!
At the end of all of my rants and frustration we probably all want the same thing- a good bath! kidding,
we all want the Trinidad that we knew 15 years or so ago, where you could take a hike or drive and appreciae all that trinidad has to offer in Safety. Go and stay in MAnzanilla , mayaro, Toco, and not have to worry about bandits and rapists.

Well hun I totally agree with u on all fronts. My one thing is tho that COP was not really new was it? They had old heads jumping into bed with them and jumping right back out too. If some fresh young dedicated group of individuals sell themselves well to the public only few people will backslide to de devils they know. Plus politicking is a life long thing COP should not give up. Fail this year but learn from it and move on and make sure u always always have the best interest of the nation at heart and new ideas on how to deal with old problems.

Well with UNC its a MAd power hungry man in charge, with the PNM its a moron who has a supposed vision for this country, but will end up polluting it , destroying all of our wildlife and driving it into a Jamaica.
COP wanted a chance to change!
I do not consider Trinidad a democracy any longer for if you look at the last few years, this govt , or Individual as the case maybe- does what HE wants and does what HE thinks is best .
He does not think or listen to the PEOPLE of this nation, How many must speak up about the smelters, the Iron plants, the Wast of Useless Buildings, Stadii and the relocation of So many people without proper consultation ?
We are a partial Dictatorship- we are no longer a democracy!

Well i know that Inshan can be a bit on the more dramatic side, but his thoughts and the collaborative thoughts of many other Communities around trinidad when they had planned a few days of SHUTWODN for trinidad was right up there with what we need to do.
We need to get together as a people and SAY enough is enough!
The problem with shutting down Trinidad is that we are the ones who sacrafice , we wil have to settle for NO electricity, No water, Na cabletv, No grocery open for a few days. It does not affect the govt.
They are not even affected by Traffic as their outriders practically run you off the road!
What is needed is a joint shutdown when there is an international COnference here- wouldnt it be somethign if after all delegates were flown here that the hotels lost power, the Airport shut down and Trinidad's govt be embarassed on a Global scale???
Other wise the govt could not care about who strikes and who shuts down and who protests!- they continue on with daily as usual!

We told you this would happen, we gave you the facts, we told you what to do, you really get what you vote for.

Sumana if you are going to state the position the UNCA would have taken to stop this particular kidnapping from happening feel free to share the solutions they were going to run with; standing on the backs of victims for the next five years with an "I told you so statement" (like your Leader was promising to do) is very unbecoming.
My position is that since during the election and just prior to (during Carnival and again during the World Cup of Cricket) kidnappings and other crimes seems to have lessened save for the gang wars and their subsequent victims, shouldn't the people of T&T be focusing their rage in that direction? the fact that these waves can be turned on and turned off means someone is calling the shots, it means crime can be controlled; shouldn't you be demanding the Minister of Security focus on that aspect among others.
Also, if your Government is generous enough to put out extra security at special times (when Tourist are in town, or when some foreign dignatary is in T&T), shouldn't you as a citizen be demanding that you be afforded the same 'privaledges' as visitors? Who pays taxes in T&T your or them? And while you are about it, offer tangible solutions for improving your particular area instead of trying to take on the whole country; right now it seems like the criminals have more victims than they realize.... look at how they have some of you pitted against one another instead of against them.
