I recently read somewhere that TSTT got a license to use the technology. That was all I've heard about it.

Some people been testing it and some areas now have it available but I didn't see any info on their website abt it.

My relatives who still waiting 2yrs later for Blink was told tht TSTT wud be offering customers like them the wimax option. But I feel it not even available in the area yet just like how their area is not Blink ready.

Maybe a next waste of time from TSTT to have customers waiting another few yrs again.

The shortest that I can explain it to you is that it's wireless broadband not like satellite Internet service such Greendott.

It's called 'last mile' as it's generally to service customers beyond the network edge (especially rural areas or areas with limited wired infrastructure).

Please don't confuse it with WiFi even though they're both in the same subset of communication technologies.

New article in the Newsday

edit:

He also addressed the technical issues that BlackBerry users have been experiencing over the last few months and explained why those issues existed.

“The reason is the capacity, we have had a phenomenal year with BlackBerry as we got very aggressive in the market place. The biggest challenge we have had is getting more devices in the country, with this success, everything message e-mail has to get routed back to Canada. and what was happening is the bandwidth on our links, we were dropping packets and that was causing a slowdown,” he said.

He added that they have added a new link which goes directly to Canada which he said should alleviate their customers’ problem.interesting

I applied for WiMax and they lost my application.
I went to reapply and they checked and its not available in my area. The woman who I applied got thru with hers though but she living far from me.
Like I wud never get internet at home :(
The woman say its like a portable modem becos she went to different locations and used it.
They have it postpaid for people who have a landline and prepaid for those who don't

Nah i not intrested in Greendott.
People in my area started taking Greendott and Greendott tv though.

I wonder when and if Direct tv would bring internet...I saw them advertising internet and tv packages in their latin american countries sometimes last year.

Hmmm...I think that DTV in TT is staying away from becoming an ISP...

It's kind of hard for me to believe that you're in an area in Southern Trinidad where you can't get Blink-on-the Go or WiMax at least if not hardwired Blink...

It is 4G wireless Internet access that is taken from the mobile network GSM towers, designed
mostly for people who live too far from the exchanges and therefore cannot receive ADSL
broadband, because of the distance they live from the exchanges....

I investigated DTV becomming an ISP in trinidad several years ago. It would not make sense for them to operate as an ISP here because of our laws.
To have wireless dish internet, you would need to get a radio transmitter licence for an uplink because of our laws
Alternatively you will need some other internet connection for an uplink while the satellite will provide the downlink

Hmmm...buy wholesale internet connectivity from TSTT or Flow,yute...

DTV offers IS in Puerto Rico through AT&T...
