.....and this is allowed to happen to a captive population in the country of its habitat! Shameful.

A controversial zoo in China has been closed after a spate of deaths of Siberian tigers whose bones are believed to have been used to make a tonic much prized for boosting virility.
One of China’s more outspoken newspapers questioned why the privately run Shenyang Forest Wildlife Zoo in northeastern Liaoning province had been allowed to operate for years despite reports its tigers were starving to death.
The Beijing News quoted an unidentified official as saying between 40 and 50 tigers may have died at the zoo since 2000. It was an “open secret” that the zoo was producing costly tiger-bone liquor.

That is a shame. These are people who should be protecting the animals.

Sad, sad, sad. At least they could've eaten the meat and then make Viagra from the bones.

Zoos should not exist as far as I am concerned.

He could move in with you, so you wouldn't have to take all dem long tranatlantic flights to see the love of your life.

But, back to the topic, it is always sad & disappointing to read stories like this.
