In addition to his famous mirror writing, polymath
Leonardo da Vinci invented a number of puzzles,
including Leonardo's Dissection, a curving motif than
can be divided into six and reassembled to form a
rectangle.Many of the puzzles require guesswork
and intelligence rather mathematical calculations
though some answers involve a satisfyingly complex
formulae.

The Sieve of Eratosthenes is a classic puzzle involving primes
and composites while the section on Arithmetical Progressions
is by Snowflake and anti-Snowflake curves, Rott's Chaotic
Pendulum, the Serpinski Triangle, Fibonacci-Square Progressions,
and All Nines Paradox.

Dunne said the tests showed that teachers “know so little maths that they cannot be conveying mathematics to their children”.
