At speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second? My goodness, who needs that kind of speed?

I do and would welcome it.

Online backup and restore would become much more practical to small business who cannot afford full fledged servers.

1 Gigabit?

I doubt the average home-user, even serious gamers/downloaders, would need that fast a connection.

In a business context, perhaps. but it would depend on the industry.

Even if I have 1 terabit u/l & d/l speeds it wouldn't matter much if the site I'm accessing cannot deliver that type of speed. However, I like speed and the faster the better. Let 'er rip!

Yes, of course it would, but some online servers out their provide no throttling of speed and unlimited bandwidth usage for a price much lower than owning a physical server.

And even so, it would provide an excellent off site back up, in the event of a fire or even systematic sabotage of your business (say the main place is attacked and the remote but physical place as well).

I'm just saying that there will be a need for it to satisfy and this time its not just an e-penii mentality of 'oh my god, fast speeds but what do I do with it'

I guess it could make online gaming more popular and accessible. I ent interested in World of Warcraft though, dat's geek ting, so i'll stick with 56Mbit for now.
