That was about a decade ago (gosh ah feeling old!).
I remember my dad took me to a temple after school to feed the ganesh murti and it really was miraculous, but the milk disappeared. And I was very careful not to let any spill. I remember being a little awestruck but not too much as I guess for me the murti was always real. I just never saw him drink anything before. :)
Anybody else had tried it then or since?

Yeah! I remembered that. I was in TO at that time... all dem Ganesh Murti's was miraculasly absorbing liquids... not only milk
Not all the murtis were of stone, and yet there are claims that the brass murtis were doing the same. I did not hear about the phenomena until a few days later, so I missed the experience, but saw the reports on the TV.
Some learned scientists, Indian and non Indian were not able to explain why there was surface tension on a few days around the world, and not beyond. Why surface tension on both stone and brass murtis and not other icons?
It's been 10 years already time does fly.
Yea I remembered! I heard of it the day it was happening but did not try it

I went to the Todd St mandir one lunchtime from school. A friend and I walk up the road and went to the mandir.
It did absorb the milk we offered.
Wow 10 yrs huh. I think it was more like 14-15 yrs if I remember correctly. Or maybe it happened again 10yrs ago.
It happened again only a few yrs ago, may be four years ago.

I also expereinced it with my Aaji's Hanuman murti. What was amazing was that she always used the Hanuman murti for prayers but she also had a Durga murti which she never used. The Durga murti did not drink milk at all. It proved that Hindusdon't worship idols. The Deity must be invoked within the murti.
Once I randomly tried giving the Hanuman murti water to drink but nothing happened. This was a good while after though.
