I have to deduce that. 2 COP candidates were beaten to a frazzle, and no one gave a damn. What would the case have been if say... Gary Hunt was attacked? or Ganga Singh? or Wendy Luen? or Christine Kangaloo? what is the difference?

Well, if the people in Laventille are not even concerned why should anyone else make an effort...could this be the thinking that abounds?

When u grow up passing thru dirt tracks, and bading in standpipe water and knowing that you have no future to look forward to as in a better home instead of glavanise and board for the rest of your days and your picknee dem picknee's days...added to that yuh have to dodge gunfire and chopping and if yuh name call yuh shot cud call too at the whim and behest of the criminal element in de area...what would u do then?

Eh nobordee seeing this from the plight of these people who have to work just like the rest of us but never see no benefits for all their years of toiling for the country. Cause let's face it...half ah trinidad does rush to work in de banks or government offices and go live abroad but the rest still have to nurse, clean up after we and take care of all the so called menial tasks that most of we thinks are beneath us. Yet...they get no respect for it...they are called names and wutless and doh care and less than just because a few degenerates amongst them have guns and no fear of the pretend bullies we call the police.

What would u do in their place?

What would u do in their place?

I would do what many of my friends and family members from humble/impoverished/seemingly hopeless beginnings did: Work my ass off for something better.

lucky u and lucky them Huma...yeahhhhhhhhh clap clap. So now go take a bow. But in the mean time be realistic nah dread. Not everyone has the tools to make it and these tools are not oftern brains or money it can be another persons confidence in your ability to make it no matter what obstacles u go through.

Just saying how yuh ancestors and u make it doh do jack shidt for them who still struggling to find even a toe hold. sigh i jess doh know nah dread the smugness the successful people does acquire does kill me.

I had the same attitude you had until I was exposed to this "reality" yuh speakin about. It eh their fault. Society against them. They strugglin.

But the part of this equation that yuh not bringin up is that the Laventillians who "struggling to find a toe hold" are not the same people who bringin shame and infamy to the area.

The people who realize that hard work and sacrifice pay off, even against the odds, are not the ones who brandishin guns, rapin, killin and droppin babies willy nilly. They aren't the ones who nurture and maintain an anti-education culture, and treat literacy as an afterthought, if not a downright waste of time. They aren't the ones spending hundreds or thousands on cell phones and brands and then sending their children to school with empty schoolbags and empty minds.

And the funny thing is that what I sayin here is tame compared to de kinda frustration I hear a few Morvant/Laventillians express about members of their own community. That eh smugness nah...that is knowin sense from nonsense.

And doh consider me or anyone I was talkin about a success. We still tryin, and we still far from where want to reach. But ay...focus on that for the rest of the thread and ignore the folly of the people yuh tryin tuh defend.

I personally clap loudly and jump up and down with glee whenever a laventille denizen is killed. One less person who can kill me.
