....seriously. A LOT of time!! He needs it!

From the Express today:

TWENTY minutes or less is all it should take for a person displaying severe flu-like symptoms to be seen by a medical practitioner, Health Minister Jerry Narace has recommended.
Ignore the bad phrasing by the journalist. In this case, that is irrelevant.
Jerry serious? is just like the next clown saying passport in 10 days. Them only saying ting, and people saying YAYYY and wavin dey han.

The minister admitted that while it is important to adhere to standard operating procedures, face to face communication on the ground was irreplaceable when it comes to health care delivery, especially during the second wave of the Influenza A H1N1 in our country. This 'second wave' nonsense again!?!? Would some of Jerry's advisors please whisper to him that there aint no second wave in trinidad, in the light that we therefore dont have a date for the apparent 'first wave'?!?! Sheesh

According to Narace, the swine flu virus is a worldwide problem and the only thing proven to work in terms of preventing the further spread of the virus is education and proper hygiene practices.

And it's thanks to his excellent public education program that he is talking about 'second waves', the head of the Med Pract Assoc talking about 'new strain' of swine flu based on 2 cases, the hospitals are overburdened with panicky patients and clueless staff, schools are demanding 'health certificates', people are sharing masks in ICU, patients are being isolated in a tent and left for hours with dim ones who coming to just 'be sure'.
Rolls Royce education program there Jerry.

"At the end of the day, it comes down to our personal hygiene, our respiratory etiquette and understanding the information we are required to understand.
 And this man convinced a section of the population to vote for HIM over some other guys. Who lost to Jerry in the elections?? Please, someone tell me.

For example, learn how you can distinguish between the regular flu and what are the symptoms of H1N1 and of course what to expect at the public or private institution," Narace said.
He is really joking now, maybe he is Jerry Springer. Or Seinfeld. Or Bhandan the masseur

This expectation, he explained, will not always be what patients think it should be, but he reminded the public health workers to communicate to patients according to their complaint or symptoms and give them guidance as to how they can protect their loved ones.
This wasn't in quotations so I can't even say he is being paraphrased correctly (as much as I want to). Maybe the reporter is just as muddled up as he!

God help us all.

Most recent WHO report

In the temperate zone of the northern hemisphere, influenza transmission continues to intensify marking an unusually early start to winter influenza season in some countries.

In North America, the US, and parts of Western Canada continue to report high rates of influenza-like-illness (ILI) and numbers of pandemic H1N1 2009 virus detections; Mexico has reported more confirmed cases since September than during the springtime epidemic.

In Western Europe, high rates of ILI and proportions of respiratory specimens testing positive for pandemic H1N1 2009 have been observed in at least five countries: Iceland, Ireland, the UK (N. Ireland), Belgium, and the Netherlands. Many other countries in Europe and Western and Central Asia are showing evidence of early influenza transmission, including in Spain, Austria, parts of Northern Europe, Russia, and Turkey.

In Japan, influenza activity has also increased sharply, especially on the northern island, approximately 10 weeks ahead the usual start of the winter influenza season.

Pandemic influenza transmission remains active in many parts of the tropical zone of the Americas, most notably in several Caribbean countries.

Overall transmission continues to decline in most but not all parts of the tropical zone of South and Southeast Asia
