The Animal Welfare Network in collaboration with the Veterinary Association of Trinidad and Tobago presents its Third Annual Spay Week, from November 12th to 16th, 2007.
During the designated week, pet owners can phone a participating vet in their area and make an appointment to have their animal spayed. (Please see the attached flyer for a list of veterinarians). The operations are offered at low cost. The owner pays a small fee - this year it will be $125.00 - and the Animal Welfare Network also pays the vet a fee for each animal.
Vets can accept animals for operation at their own discretion. They therefore have the option to refuse animals that are not considered in fit condition to be operated upon.
We emphasize that the ideal beneficiaries of Spay Week are pet owners who are generally unable to afford veterinary services. While 90% of the operations are carried out on female dogs, some vets accept neutering of male dogs and few female cats.
Please help us control the population of stray and unwanted dogs and cats, and spread the word about Spay Week 2007.
