No Executive Presidency YET.....within the next eight months when the UNC-A starts with their self destructive infighting there will be accusations, leadership issues and even floor crossings.......so still prepare for our Executive President.

Bas may feel wounded, but he inflicted his own wound onto himself. If he was truly interested in unity he would have withdrawn his eleven canditates from the seats referred to as marginal seats.

No, that is not good enough .. any major changes like that will take a 3/4 of the Senate to vote for it and it cannot be passed with a simple majority in the Lower House, so there is no going to the upper House.

Manning already is showing his dictatorial tendencies, he has been anointed the role of prime minister in Wood ford Square, similar to the orientations of Castro, can't remember the name of his public orientation and Chavez at Red Square in Venezuela.

3/5 majority means he can pass casual bills more easily without having to persuade the opposition to let it fly.
2/3 majority means he can make constitutional changes such as replacing the Privy Council with the CCJ
3/4 majority means he can become Executive President. That requires about 31 seats.

Trust her, this dictator thing is no crap.
People of Trinidad and Tobago, get informed; if Mr. Manning gets his way, either through someone, or a few people 'walking the floor' (or being bought off), it could spell the end to the lifestyle you know in T&T; the verson of the revised constitution that Sir Ellis Clark prepered (the one Patos is favouring) makes Fidel Castro look like a choir boy. Please get informed, that is the most obscene document ever written.

Good to see you outlaw.

Manning will try his best to put things in place to accommodate for a greater victory in the next elections, however, with a united opposition by that time, this will not occur.

Manning will die before he becomes President for life all because this will not happen.

This has to be total nonsense the opposition mp and the PNM mp's will be sworn in at President house tomorrow so can some one fill me in as to why is it necessary for Manning to go to Woodford sq and do this function just for his self?? I have never seen such bs in my life, and I would of thought that the media would of at least raise a outcry over this but they more concerned about Panday's speech.

This media is a total waste and should also carry the blame for this country having all the problems it has they do nothing but spread nonsense so afraid of losing their advertising dollars they suck up to Manning and allow nonsense to go on, I just can believe this crap at times

OPEN YUH EYES AND PEROUSE ALL THE THREADS BEFORE COMMENTING. IF YOU DID YOU WOULD HAVE READ THIS; AND I HAVE ONLY JUST BEGUN.

"Doh put all yuh jerseys too far ... Manning smell blood and he wants to take the Nation back to the polls to get at least 28 seats.

MANNING HIMSELF HINTED AT IT BEFORE THE ELECTION

If he does and he gets the amount of seats required, there will be no 2012 elections and no more Local Gov't Elections. There will be no Parliament, but there will be a Cabinet made up of people he select and he will be over them all. That is just the tip of the iceberg friends."

And here is another lil piece to chew on

The right of succession to the Executive Presidency will be left to the discretion of the sitting Executive President.

That means Manning [not the people] will get to choose who the next Executive President will be. The same way he will choose [only this time without consultation with anyone] who the AG, the DPP, the Judges and Chief Justice will be. The Chief Justice will choose the Judges, the Magistrates and Chief Magistrates after consultation with the Executive President.

Privy Council is something which cannot really be removed. They are actually the highest and last court of appeal in the world. All the CCJ can really do, even if they get full control here is to act as an intermediary between the state and Privy Council. Even if Manning attempts to remove the Privy Council, people can still take cases to there since it is the only recognised, international court in the world.

peanut
11-07-2007, 07:56 AM
The CCJ cannot get full or any control nor does it have any jurisdiction in our judicial process as long as the Privy Council remains the highest appellate court of the land.

A PNM 3/5 majority is not sufficient to remove T&T from under the Jurisdiction of the Privy Council. It can only be done with a 3/4 majority, and a 3/5 majority does not give the Gov't the support it needes to alter the Constitution to the detriment of the rights of the citizens of T&T.

Such is life and a true indication of what goes around comes around. However I was glad that Mr. Panday et al, in the spirit of forgiveness allowed bygones to be bygone and embraced him back in the UNC.

Such is life and a true indication of what goes around comes around. However I was glad that Mr. Panday et al, in the spirit of forgiveness allowed bygones to be bygone and embraced him back in the UNC.

I think that might be the beginning of his (Panday's) downfall. With Bas' legal worries and a PNM government back in power they will tie him up in so much court matters that it will hamper his ability to also be the leader of the opposition and UNC leader. I alway felt that Patrick's main goal was to remove Bas or humiliate him enough to disgrace the man.

With Kamla already sidelined, Mikela new on the block, Jack not getting his money's worth and willing to sit on the side a bit there leaves a leadership vacuum that RLM will fit in. There may be a struggle and another exodus from the UNC at that time but they will rebuild around RLM but he will also try to make it less of a Panday party.

I also feel this chief whip business is to keep RLM close since he is still distrusted by Bas and the party.

Nah, if yuh Panday yuh will know when he says he forgives you, he has as he does not forgive readily and/or easily, and with his forgives comes trust. Maybe it is because he can be so trusting the reason why he has gotten burnt so many times.
