We're having a crappy summer. Raining almost every day. This weekend was wet and more rain is coming today. Some people are taking it out on the meteorologists.

rom link: In 1996, Peruvian meteorologist Francisco Arias Olivera was hanged from a tree by an angry mob outside a TV station after a flash flood killed 17 people. He had predicted 50 millimetres of rain in 24 hours but the town was bombarded with 480 in 12 hours.

Consider, the absurdity of the government body, the Meteorologist Office, London, paying bonuses to staff for the accuracy of their forecast, inspite of the dodgy prediction of a "barbecue summer". In 2008. the Met Office said the average summer will have a low risk of heavy rain fall. Later they admitted it was the 'it was the wettest on record across the country'. It then predicted a milder winter - which turned out to be the coldest in 13 years. A Met office spokesperson said despite poor publicity over seasonal forecasts, it's short term forecasts were "very, very good" and increasingly accurate. What a fiasco!
