Ketchup and pepper fanatics

Do you put ketchup and pepper sauce in almost everything without even tasting the food first? I have seen people putting ketchup and pepper sauce on top of KFC, pizzas, chinese food, syrian food.....and the amount...Lord have mercy...you can literally swim in the sauces. :shock: Why they even bother to buy the food, just open a ketchup and pepper sauce bottle and drink from it, no?

I had the habit of putting pepper sauce on the food, before even tasting it. Then discovered I was putting too much on, as I was forced to be going to the bathroom frequently. Now, seldom use pepper sauce. Incidentally, this thread has been a great source of information relative to dishes from TT extremely grateful.

Chica, I would say this a lot to pepper lovers in my family, but then I realised that their taste buds were at a heightened state of arousal and in fact they could taste the food AND the enhancement with the pepper/ketchup. So I dont have to throw a fit when I spend hours balancing flavours and someone walk with their peppersauce.

On another note, asking for salt and pepper is sometimes bad manners when yuh eating by people (me). Yes I know you 'like' pepper and a lot of salt but I call you to have our meal with us, not to 'feed you'. But then people like sacky who like to over-season will think anything less is flavourless............come eeen saltwater.

I put come cayenne pepper in most food I make for a bit of kick, but I don't use pepper sauce on anything. Not even doubles.

People put soy sauce to on their chinese food. I never tried it. Wht I missing?

Soy sauce onto Chinese food: hyper seasoning again Sola....well except for the prescribes items to be eaten with soy....you missing saltiness

i like pepper on most things, it doesn't have to be pepper-sauce, it cld just be pepper. I don't see the sense in putting soy sauce on anything :|

I hardly eat ketchup, don't really like the taste :|

if the food isnt hot, i do put pepper sauce on it...well more at the side...

ketchup, just on pizza, sometimes on chinese food (trinidadian chinese food only) ...fries of course....

Yes,solachica.When I was stationed in Germany,the germans used to put it on bratwurst and french fries.
The even bottle it and call it curry ketchup,with and without pepper........yummy.

Daiz Guyanese curry. Lots of Trini swear by it.

Chica, matouks pepper sauce, ketchup and mustard make a nice dipping sauce for fries and fried chicken. It also goes nice on pizza. These are tastes unique to Trinidad.
But I dont know about it in everything else. But generally, the majoirty of Trinis do use a lot of pepper in everything.

I have pepper trees....Scotch Bonnet,Jalepenos,Chili,Bird,.....fresh peppers does get chopped up and put
in just about everything I eat......now don't go there.......LOL

never eat ketchup except for when there is ah tomatoe surplus in de gyarden and ah make some from de surplus.
pepper sauce- dais ah nex story, ah have several sorts an ah doh leave home widout it!

My Friends, be very careful with the storage of ketchup . I remember talking to Andre Jacelon one day (when I managed the Tony Romas accounts in Trinidad- part of my old firm clientele) , he told me Ketchup is regarded as on of the best foods for bacteria to grow on ( both dangerous and not) . The local franchise was instructed by Tony Romas Head Office to store ketchup at the bottom of the refridgerators away from all produce and meat among other safety measures.

A lot of mild food posioning can be attributed to bad ketchup ...( you ever notice how ketchup gets black around the top of the bottle and inside the cover) ...the taste don't change ....that is why it is hard to detect.

Fries eh taste good without plenty ketchup on it. and especially the Heinz one where you can taste the vinegar in it, not the Mabel's one. [smilie=bad.gif]

crix, trini cheese, swiss ketchup, and hot pepper to top. what more yuh want when yuh ent have nuttin to cook. wash it down with a (s)malta.

Ketchup and pepper on the following:

Chicken, fries, burgers etc.

Pepper only on other foods, including pizza. NO I don't put ketchup on it, wham to you! ;)

Can't live without pepper, but I do taste other people's food first before adding whatever...

i used to be a rell ketchup freak when i was a teen. but i rell cut down on ketchup - that's partly responsible for developing 'love handles' lol.

now, i just eat pizza plain, without any sauces and i think i enjoy it even more now.

i've grown accustomed to eating fries w/o ketchup. but vinegar on fries...just delicious! i don't know if i should still call them fries, but when i making dem at home i does use de toaster oven - no oil. but i looove having fries with garlic butter.

Is only when i eating things like doubles and duck, i does need plenty pepper.

i use LOTS of ketchup when i eating fries :/ i use it in bread and egg, burgers, hotdogs, rarely on pizza but sometimes depending, just about anything fried.....chicken, wantons, samosa....d works...
when i was small, i used to eat rice and ketchup lol anybody else did that?

pepper..hmmm...i like pepper on some foods....but meh stomach HATES it ....
