View Full Version : Jesse Jackson Not Coming - I95.5FM News @ 7:00 a.m.

I95.5 FM reported in their 7:00 a.m. broadcast that Rev. Jesse Jackson will not be attending the UNCA rally today.

Dale Enoch of I95.5 stated that they tried to contact UNCA organisers to confirm but were unable to do so.

If this report is true then it is one more embarrassment for the UNCA on the eve of the elections......something that they could do without.

Yuh know what? If Panday had left the UNC and retired from politics then he would have been a boss speaker for this rally. They wouldn't need to resort to try and wow the electorate by bringing down big names or any other cheap tricks like the 'return' of RLM on this campaign.

Jesse ent know anything about what struggles went on down here, he go have to read up on wikipedia before he come give his speech.

The UNC has been fighting against the support base they created against themselves this election by some members not knowing when to go. If they did go then their message now would have been so much more powerful.

As it is they shot themselves in their foot again.

It would seem that the flood of emails from the TnT nationals in NYC, Washington and Miami has made the impact desired.

Jesse probably got a call from Nelson Mandela as well warning him about Jackbas!

Scorpio
11-03-2007, 09:47 AM
I wonder what TNT nationals in NYC, Washington and Miami could possibley have to gain by convincing Jesse to not speak at the UNC rally ? were they that afraid of the impact he would have on the UNCA's election results ?

I agree. No it wont make one iota of difference to those already gearing themselves to vote for the PNM or COP.

It however will put off someone who may be considering the UNCA at this late stage as it gives one more reason to pause and question.

On another front it starts to make the leadership of the UNCA look foolish and desperate in the eyes of many and lessens their credibility further.....more psychological than anything else.

Maccogirl
11-03-2007, 10:40 AM
If he does not come it would not be because of the UNCA, it would be because of the people that sent those emails and made a issue of it, so they can also ask themselves why is there such a big effort being put out by some to block or throw mud on everything the UNCA tries to do.

So to me it can work both ways, it can be looked at as if PNM had their hands in this once again so don't feel it is only going to look as if the leadership of the UNCA is foolish or desperate it can also looks as if the PNM is afraid of the UNCA and their connection to people outside of T&T

They closed the airport runway last night so his private jet couldn't land. I'm sure that it was an intentional move on the part of the powers that be.

There is a talk that the runway was dug up last night to avoid anyone from coming in if that is true, the only people that have the power to do this is the PNM....like they really afraid of the UNCA

I know a few nights ago it had no power at the airport and no generator so the runway had no lights. They had to re route flights coming in and others in Trini were cancelled.
It's not just now...for the past couple of weeks they been closing the runway at nights to do repairs. 8-)

So no flights coming in or going out? :o Wht scorps go do

deathwinger
11-03-2007, 02:13 PM
The closing of the airport was intentional. The airport authority knew well in advance that Jesse Jackson and voters living abroad were coming for the weekend. So the runway was closed and the false pretense of throwing some asphalt on it was created.

The dictatorship begins....but you still have the power in your hands to stop it. Not for very long though.

Come on, aren't you reaching a bit on this latest excuse for your two leaders again making ah Jackbas of themselves, making promises they cannot deliver on.

What message are they really sending to their supporters......

1. We fly by the seat of our pants, make promises without even checking out the logistics of being able to deliver.

2. We will tell you anything you want to hear, as we know we have faithful supporters who will make excuses for anything we do or say.

3. Our Supporters being a bunch of simpletons will take anything we tell them to the bank, then blame everyone else when things don't go as planned.

4. Our brand of politics is based on smoke and mirrors; sorry if we are not able to create as much smoke as we promised.

5. Politics in T&T is all about name dropping, so we will 'drop' some of the biggest names, knowing that that is all it takes to impress our followers.....

and the list could go on and on as this Jackbas show continues

King now you know that nothing flies in or out of Tobago after 10 pm, why you think Tobago people does cuss Manning so from 10.0pm they lock off from the world, that is one of their major issue on this election but you wont know that because Trini's don't really study what goes on in Tobago, and PNM well they only know that Tobago good for 2 seats and that is how PNM sees it.

deathwinger
11-03-2007, 11:57 PM
The Tobago airport was already closed. They were not accommodating the arrival, Piarco was. However, if paving was planned to take place long before, then the proper authorities should have requested Tobago to handle the flight, however, this did not happen. This was intentional. Whether or not the ruling party had anything to do with it. Someone with enough pull and enough determination of not letting these flights come down had this done.

They can do what they want the PNM or the COP still did not stop the crowds from coming and I hope they took a good look at it, they could say is free concert, they could say what they want, stop who they want, if all the people that came out today go to the polls with the others that took in the show at home PNM and COP will be comforting each other on Monday night :D

I will give Jackson the credit that he is a sensible man and even if he was allowed to come to T&T I am very sure he was not going to go up on any platform and tell people to vote for the UNCA and I know you know that also. For some reason this airport thing was done to do just what it did but as I said no big deal, am sure UNCA will survive from this just as they have done in all other cases.

It should be a lesson to all you supporters of other parties than the PNM, for today it can be UNCA never know when the COP or anyone else will run into these same type of problems from the PNM. PNM seemed to be very worried about this Jacksons trip don't know the reason why because as I said his coming to me was just like when all the others came to talk so I really did not see what this big issue was about.

Legal troubles
On September 28, 2002, Salman was arrested for rash and negligent driving. He was under the influence of alcohol and his car veered onto a sidewalk outside a bakery in Mumbai. One person who was sleeping on the sidewalk died and three others were injured.[11] Charges of culpable homicide were laid against him, but later dropped.[12] However, some legal action in this case appears to be on-going.[13]

On February 17, 2006, Salman was sentenced to one year in prison[14] for hunting an endangered species, the Chinkara. The sentence was stayed by a higher court during appeal.

On April 10, 2006, Salman was handed a five year jail term for hunting the endangered Chinkara. He was remanded to Jodhpur jail, and remained there until April 13, when he was granted bail.[15]

On August 24, 2007, the Jodhpur sessions court, upheld the 5 year jail term for Salman in the Chinkara poaching case by turning down his appeal against the 2006 judgement. At the time of the hearing, he was busy with a shooting elsewhere, while his sister attended the proceedings.[16]

He has been placed under police arrest on 25 August 2007 in Jodhpur after a Rajasthan court upheld a prison sentence passed upon him for poaching.

On August 31, 2007, Salman Khan was released on bail from the Jodhpur Central jail where he has spent six days.[17]

[edit] Relationship troubles
His turbulent relationship with Aishwarya Rai filled gossip columns. Her parents lodged a complaint against him[18] and he was thrown off a movie set on which Ms. Rai was filming.[19]

In 2005, news outlets released what was said to be an illicit copy of a mobile phone call recorded in 2001 by the Mumbai police. It appeared to be a call in which he threatened his ex-girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai, in an effort to force her to appear at social events held by Mumbai crime figures. The call featured boasts of connections to organized crime and derogatory comments about other actors. The alleged tape was tested in the Government's Forensic lab in Chandigarh, which concluded that it was a fake.[20][21]

[edit] Daarul-Ifta-Manjar-e-Islam issues Fatwa
Khan has been declared a 'nonbeliever' by clerics from Daarul-Ifta-Manjar-e-Islam for participating in a Hindu festival of Ganeshotsav and honoring the elephant god Ganesh, according to the basis that idol worshipping is forbidden in islam. According to the clerics, in order to become a Muslim again he would have to reread his kalmas.[22]

Allyuh UNC supporters are very good at the blame game. If yuh eh win is Dooks fault. If man decide not to come on yuh platform is Manning fault. Try reading a little.
Jesse Jackson chose not to attend as he was advised that it was against international conventions on democracy to interefer in another nation's electoral process. Do a little search for yourself and you will find it. I'm not doing the legwork for your benefit.

Anyway, going somewhat back on topic (not that I want to), but this is from today's express:

http://www.trinidadexpress.com/index.pl ... =161227943 (http://www.trinidadexpress.com/index.pl/article_news?id=161227943)

The United National Congress Alliance issued a statement yesterday claiming that closure of the Piarco International Airport at 10 o' clock on Friday night contributed to the non-arrival of American civil rights activist Rev Jesse Jackson for its "Dance of the Revolution Rally" yesterday. But in an instant response, the Airports Authority noted that rehabilitation works on the airport runway which have been in progress since March 2007 had resulted in its closure from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly, except Saturdays-and "all international airlines have adjusted their schedules to comply with these times".

I can personally attest to that 10pm curfew. I was on a packed LIAT flight shortly before the world cup started [GND to POS], and they actually forced us turn around just as we were about to land (since we missed the 10pm landling window). Never mind the seriously bad turbulence (which we had to fly through TWICE), or the fact that we were delayed since a 7pm scheduled departure time, or the fact that it was only a few minutes past 10 when we would have arrived. Good lord, did people get upset for that. They literally boo'd the pilot when we landed back in Grenada.

Given that, if they were weren't willing to accommodate the 50+ people on my flight, I don't think they would care one bit about JJ's private plane. There are rules, and I guess Piarco will stick by them.
