Ok so here's the deal....

at work (in a school) theres about 6-7 young ppl like myself. and we lime together. cool. bear in mind that im only there 3 weeks now.

this week, this one guy in particular an i were free an we started talkin. so we talk all the time in passing but this was a conversation. no big deal 4 me cuz we were talkin bout football and carnival and machel in sting. so suddenly, today i hear i have a thing 4 him an he has a thing 4 me...from students eh. one girl in the group start movin leff wit me. an sum girls (one or two have it bad 4 him) watchin me cut eye. and other students givin chats.

so personally,i no nutin goin on so, normally, i wud not care, but this is at work. and more than that, is students involved. and im supposed to set example an all kinda ting...so what do i do? am i supposed to stop talkin to him jus cuz of this stupid rumour thing? or jus disregard everything an everybody and carry on?

Since it is at work I would say limit the amt of time you spending alone with him for a while. Just so as not to add fuel to fire.
Things shud die down in a while and you wud become ytdays news.
Also talk to the feller and explain to him whts going on and your position. So he wount be in the dark abt all the talk. You know how fellers doesn't be observant sometimes.
How long were you 2 actually there talking for people to observe tht and start talking?

I agree with Solachica in this case, it is work, and you are new there, I think you should take it easy
and observe what is on around you.

I am not saying to stop talking to your colleague, just do not make it a

Give in this one time, and you agree to let those around you in that school dictate your life there....your choice.

I don't agree you should limit your interaction...but do ensure it is tempered..and should any allegations be made (by him or a student)
that you have other witnesses to coroborate your story....at the end of the day...be satisfied with the way you act regardless of the insinuations (There will always be that..you can't let that run your life..don't let this incident set a precedent)

I stand by what I say by limiting your interaction until you know what is going on. I am not saying to stop talking to your colleague just take a step back and observe the scene.

People can be very malicious for no reason whatsoever. Of course these are things you cannot avoid, but you are a teacher, and chat coming from students because of interaction with a colleague seems a bit out of order. They are after all your students, not your friends and "chat" concerning you and another faculty member should not be encouraged.

Of course the decision is yours. If you really into this guy, and can handle the 'ole' talk, you can say to hell with everyone and continue interaction with your colleague until hell freezes over.
