View Full Version : Sven-Göran Eriksson Linked to Soca Warriors

There has been a rumor that former England and Mexico coach Sven-Göran Eriksson has been linked to replace Maturana in June. Sven-Göran Eriksson was sacked by the Mexican Football Federation after failing to get a result for the second time in Honduras.
Meanwhile, TTFA have yet to confirm this rumor and have denied any replacements before the emergency meeting later this month. The Soca Warriors outfit has never been the same since the departure of the influential master tactician Leo Beenhakkar, which eventually saw them out of the Gold Cup, losing key matches against lowly Bermuda with two points from three games in the final round of WC qualifications as well as a heavy defeat to England and USA.
It is still uncertain what Sven-Göran Eriksson decisions will be but we can only hope that this rumor is true.
You read it here first guys, thanks to sHOTTA and his well advised sources. Beers in mate!

I think he will be a good manager for TNT. He is great tactically, not his fault England and Mexico sucks. Besides after been sacked he probably dropped his rates, he might be affordable.

I see.
Eng and Mex and rubbish and cant execute Sven's tactics, but TnT will.

Falcon lets be realistic here we need an experienced coach that fits our style of play. Sven-Göran Eriksson is well respect and will get the players co-operation, I think he can bring out the best in TNT as well as the selection of players.
I don't agree with alot of tactical strats and Mataruna selection policy. I also think not been able to speak English really holds him back from getting the best out of this team, whatever advice he gives to a translator will not be the same message in the end, it's also not coming from him, think about it. I think the fundamental breakdown in this team is the lack of communication in the camp.
I look around the team and I see Wolfe playing defense, I see Carlos limited to been on the right wing only, no movement on the left side, glaring gaps in defense, loose marking, careless plays coming forward. In short there is too many negatives to gain positives, infact the bad out-weights the good in this team at the moment.
They say one man can make a difference but it's not true, look at Carlos Edwards vs USA, he was trying to do everything by himself because of the lack of confidence in his team mates. Keon Daniel was doing the same exact thing and although it was entertaining to watch him take on defenders nothing came out of it in the end.
The link up play is very much left to be desired here. I am sure you will agree. Jones can score goals but he needs services from the midfield and we are seeing Stern John first touches are deteriorating drastically, his confidence level is really low after missing that penalty but is still allowed to play. Stern needs space and time to score goals, the Americans never gave him that making him not an effective selection/solution but was still allowed to play a full 90 minutes.
Maybe it's just me...

2. Sven-Göran Eriksson is well respect and will get the players co-operation,
3. I think he can bring out the best in TNT as well as the selection of players.
1 yes...but even bertille would be better than sven
2. definitely not and no probably wont
3. no way jose
4. I don't agree with alot of tactical strats and Mataruna selection policy.
5. I also think not been able to speak English really holds him back from getting the best out of this team, whatever advice he gives to a translator will not be the same message in the end, it's also not coming from him, think about it.
6. I think the fundamental breakdown in this team is the lack of communication in the camp.
4 me too, I probably dont agree with any
5 agreed, and unlike Fabio and Scolari and Maurinho, he never bothered to learnt the language
6 lack of nous by the coach, and lack of drive by the players, still a split camp in terms of what they want from this. They arent playing for each other
7. The link up play is very much left to be desired here.
8. I am sure you will agree.
9. Jones can score goals but he needs services from the midfield and we are seeing Stern John first touches are deteriorating drastically, his confidence level is really low after missing that penalty but is still allowed to play.
7 is like if they never knew the basics about controlling and passing a football
8 yes
9 jones disappoint big time...he must make his mind up if he will try 1000% or not
Stern is deteriorating from what and towards what?!?! Stern is Stern, When he couldnt score against an open goal in the WC against Eng, that was Stern!! Stern needs a holiday, in Fiji!
10. Stern needs space and time to score goals, the Americans never gave him that making him not an effective selection/solution but was still allowed to play a full 90 minutes.Space? Like where, the Sahara maybe......Stern is ineffective, incapable, inept, inapt, inefficient, ill-chosen, inefficacious, inert, indifferent, inferior and inevitably inescapable.

TNT should have fired Maturana after the Caribbean Cup debacle which came hot on the heels of the Bermuda home loss debacle.
Sven not bringing one thing to the table - England under Sven was almost out-foxed by Leo Beenhakker & the Soca Warriors, if Peter Crouch's goal had not been allowed, maybe the result would have been different.
What about Scolari ?
If allyuh begging Scolari to coach TT is best you ask Zamora to come play for we.

I thought they say Zamora was too old to change countries ?

He was born in 1981 ... that not too old.
"Zamora was watched by the Trinidad and Tobago coach, Leo Beenhakker. However, Zamora turned down the chance of playing in the World Cup finals with Trinidad and Tobago, saying in August 2005, "Trinidad is my dad's country and to play in the finals would be a dream but West Ham are more important. I am only thinking about the club at the moment and do not want to be distracted from that."

Zamora??
At the time, he was hotting up the lower league and said in an interview before Leo, he wanted to play for ENGLAND. Forget this west ham business....that came afterwards.....
When he was found out in the big league and he realised he was below average at this level, he tried a TnT thing with Jack and Leo, along with Tony Warner and ah next fella, a defender, Villa or Fulham.....
Zamora was a modern day Naipaul, who change he mind. We can do without 'his kind' on the team.......

There has been a rumor that former England and Mexico coach Sven-Göran Eriksson has been linked to replace Maturana
from the papers today it looks like Bora and even Leo are in better shape.
give Leo the money- let him come back, but tell him he needs to be less cautious about the whole thing....best we lose big and have a chance of scoring than defend and counter-attack once per game.
Bora? I thought I'd never see the day, but I'll take him over Francisco and Sven any day.
Fenwich say Klinsmann......look what will make me up sticks and follow that team EVERYWHERE!!!! Dem shouldnt give people heart attack eh........

And Klinsmann sign an extension with Bayern.
So by the process of elimination it look like the remaining candidates could be Latas, Fenwick, Leo (Don't know how sure this is) and Falco's favourite - Sven :-)

Aye sacky, the 'source' of the Sven story is SHOTTA. I believed him for a bit, until he start to say Roy KEane and Van Basten  .....I now make he out....Imagine Jack Warner hiring Keano...stewwps....
Acid, if Bora signing with Iraq, then I can see Jack pulling off a coup here.....so Bora it is then.....or Leo again....didnt he say he was going to Poland on a temporary basis since TT couldnt pay him to keep him for 4 years till SA...correct me if I'm mistaken.
Fenwick doesnt have the international experience- I doubt they will go for Bertille, because it was at a similar stage they jetisoned the man cause he wasnt able to take the team further..
So why dont we get Valdano? At least I think it was him...was one of members of the Maradonna winning WC side I met on a cruise with Jack a few years ago.
