Yesterday i hear that Anand Ramlogan was going up for Tabaquite on a COP ticket. But today I see this....... I guess that go be one BIG leadership council the UNC have.
http://guardian.co.tt/news3.html

attorney Anand Ramlogan has been approached by the UNC Alliance to be a member of the leadership council, Ramlogan confirmed yesterday.

Ramlogan said he was approached by the COP, the UNC and the People’s National Movement.

He said he was undecided at this point whether he would enter politics or not.

“All three parties...The UNC has asked me to be a member of the UNC Alliance leadership council and the COP has asked me, equally strong, to join, since they feel I can connect with the grass roots.

“I can see people think I’m right for politics. It’s whether politics is right for me at this time.”

I feel that the PNM wants him to counteract Marlene Coudray in Sando West. Their potential candidate Regrello is quite weak compared to Marlene. I really cannot see Ramlogan going to the PNM, considering the majority of the discrimination cases that he has done against them. Should he do that I think he will lose credibility.

Agreed .
I cannot see him joining the PNM only because he would seem to contradict himself .
I cannot see him joining the UNC , because eventually he will have problems with Panday , as Ramlogan is a very independent thinker .
I would like to see him join the COP ,as his talent would surely be used for maximum benefit to the nation .He could well be the next version of RLM ,without the ego and blind political aspiration , no matter the consequences .

If PNM is trying to lure him it will surely have to be with the position of AG which will make John Jeremie a FAG (former attorney general).

Anand already have problems with Panday both Bas and Mikela. He present her to the Bar and give she a job in his firm. then she ups and leave without telling the man nothing and gone on speaking on the UNC platform. and she leave a pile of unfinished cases in she office.

Mikela might be bright but she lazy.

Well, I assume Mikela is a bright girl, and she might be the future of teh UNC, but I just hope she does not get tainted for life by the sins of her daddy, bec that would be a shame.

Still, I would prefer Mikela to Brian any day.

Anand Ramlogan is a man of integrity. I hope he does not descend into the abyss of politics. In my opinion, he can do more for the country in his present capacity as a lawyer and advocate for the underdog. Unfortunately, he will get the short end of the stick in politics, as the prevailing political attitude is: If you are not with me, you are against me. No one appears to be able to compromise. People must realize that the world is not black and white, but rather multiple shades of grey!

Two leading attorneys who were in the defence team in the trial of former prime minister Basdeo Panday are to contest the general election on a Congress of the People (COP) ticket.

Anand Ramlogan is the candidate for Tabaquite, while Prakash Ramadhar has been selected for Caroni Central. Tabaquite is currently represented by Dr Adesh Nanan, while Dr Hamza Rafeeq is the representative for Caroni Central. Rafeeq and Nanan have been selected to contest the seats on a United National Congress Alliance ticket.

Ramlogan and Ramadhar were defence attorneys in the Panday trial Ramadhar attended yesterday's briefing of the prospective COP candidates at Chaguanas. Ramlogan had said earlier that he was approached to contest the election, but had not made up his mind. However, sources in the COP camp said yesterday that Ramlogan "is the candidate". Political observers believe that with Ramlogan and Ramadhar in the COP camp, the base of the UNC will be weakened for the upcoming election.

Attempts to contact both men were unsuccessful last night.

Anand Ramlogan, from my reading of his column, seems to be a man of integrity .
Our nation is crying out for that type of leadership.
I would suggest that he join the COP and resign if he thinks he is about to lose his reputation because of the decisions taken by his party. That is the type of politician that is sorely needed.
Manning.Rowley, Hinds and Valley have been in deadly combat inside Balisier house for years none will resign and go public for fear of losing power or the chance of being the leader.
Manning give his wife a cabinet post (nepotism) over many other more qualified and able elected PNMites, but not a damn dog bark in public or resigned over it. Gutless political socuyants all.
The country needs Anand in the COP.

Acid
10-03-2007, 07:05 PM
Now Hinds and Valley have nothing to loose. They are virtually in the PNM political cemetary.

Look at something here. Manning has removed all Rowley's supporters from within the Government making Rowley a lone soldier in his own boat.

Don't be surprised if Rowley gets a back bench in the next term.

Rowley sell out he supporters, to save himself. but after the election he go be stranded.

but what this have to do with Anand ? I think ou meant to put this on the ruction thread.

Ramlogan like the attention.

ATTORNEY Anand Ramlogan says he had been approached by all three major political parties, including an offer by the People's National Movement (PNM) to make him Attorney General should they form the next government.

He said: "I am considering my options at this time, looking at what the UNC does to resolve its leadership crisis, that final slate of candidates for the COP and whether I want to accept and embrace the PNM."

Ramlogan was identified yesterday as the likely candidate for the COP to make a run for the Tabaquite seat.

"But I am considering my political options. I know time is running out (to make a decision) but I have until October 22, nomination day." No he doesnt. Everbody announcing tihercandidates this weekend .

Ramlogan said he met yesterday with supporters of incumbent Diego Martin Central MP Kenneth Valley, who were angry they were locked out of the party's Balisier House headquarters on Tuesday.

"They wanted to know whether they could take legal action. I told them it was neither practical nor viable to do so. They asked whether I would accept a nomination on a PNM ticket."

But he doh have to carry on so .

Anand Ramlogan should join the PNM if he has to choose because they winning for sure....especially if the man has some sort of personal interests he has to look after if he gets into the government.

It is official , Anand Ramlogan is contesting the Tabaquite seat on a COP ticket .
I think he stands a very good chance of winning in light of the expected confusion with the UNC leadership .
Moreso by being on the COP ticket , many of the undecided voters will now lean towards the COP .

I guess Ramesh removing the UNC from power by conspiring with the PNM is different? All Panday and him talking about is COP. Well they scared now since thats all they could think about. Pnday drove his party into the ground and trying to bring back the glory days to keep it afloat. Its sad some of the populace gets fooled into following along.

Allyuh go vote for a man facing retrial for 2 corruption charges and was actually convicted of corruption already. Thats a fine candidate for PM in the international arena

That said, I am in no way a fan of Anand Ramlogan. However, I think its important to be fair. Anand spoke well and I especially liked that ending of his speech. Witty.
