I'm confused about this. Is there a difference between nude photography and pornography? I'd like your insights. Please don't post any pictures ;)

Different focus, different purpose.
Note nude pics can be of a pregnant woman, of a naked baby, of a dying man.
Porn is person(s) going at it.

One may hint at it, the other is simply it.

I don't know Amelia.

Here in the good old USA you can get in serious trouble for having pictures of naked children on your laptop.

There is a "big" difference. There are nude pictures in which the private parts are not shown. And then there are nude pictures where the private parts are exposed to the public. If you are a member of a nudist camp, you see nudity as natural; if you are not you see nudity as nakedness. Also an exotic dancer will tell you, he/she is different from a gogo dancer. If the "MODS" permit me, i can posts a picture of me in the nude, and you be the judge. What say you "MODS".

i suppose theer can be something that is a nude photograph but not pornographic.

of course we have all sorts of psychos and sickos in this world now and anything can really be deemed to be pornographic depending on one's mindset.

dancerboy - nudity / nude imagery (whether pornographic or otherwise) is not permitted on this forum. please be guided accordingly.

I don't know if your assertion, explanation, differentiation holds true in some jurisdictions in the USA.

Tragically for a number of people all over the country, innocent family photos turned over to the police have led to financial ruin, divorce, debt, public humiliation, and lifelong scorn as a registered sex offender for mothers and fathers.

Some cases involved pictures much less provocative than Sarah M.'s. Based on the way prosecutors interpreted photos in a few of those cases -- Marian Rubin, a New Jersey grandmother charged for taking nude photos of her granddaughters, then aged 3 and 8; and Jeffrey B., a New York father who lost custody of his two daughters after he shot pictures of them mooning him -- it's possible to spot red flags where our innocence used to be.

Here's how a zealous prosecutor could view Sarah M.'s picture: Smoldering eyes; styled, tousled blond tresses; pouty, parted lips; splayed legs; an engorged navel. And that viscous liquid dripping from the wand onto her thigh? Money shot.

But everybody have a naked baby in the bathtub pic. :?

Hmmm...seems very subjective. Anyone knows the law in relation to this?
Is it a strict liability scenario that ANY nude pics of kids whatsoever will amount to porn?
In fact, do they make reference to 'porn' specifically in the legislation or is it a question of inapropriate material or something.

And that is so true.

Hmmm...seems very subjective.

Not only is it subjective, but over zealous prosecutors in the USA use these cases to "big up" their ambitions, be it political or otherwise.

Privacy advocates say prosecutors are misusing child pornography laws by turning them against the very people they are meant to protect.

The accusation comes following a raft of recent child pornography cases against juveniles accused of photographing themselves in the nude.

This week, prosecutors in Greensburg, Pennsylvania charged six teens ranging in age from 14 to 17 with creating, distributing and possessing child pornography, after three girls were found to have taken photos of themselves in the nude or partially nude and e-mailed them to friends, including three boys who are among the defendants.
