Memories from school?

I was just sitting here thinking about my school days...hated primary school and loved Secondary. Made friends that transcended through time and ups and downs. Days of laughing till my stomach hurt and nothing in particular. Discovering boys! Getting breasts or not (in my case not...sigh) Teachers both good and bad. Fights, detentions, School Sports, wars with other schools. Crushes on maxi and taxi drivers or conducters. Older boys! Tons of home work, 13 subjects and excruciating PE classes. Home Econ class where one of the teacher just used to come in and sit down and eat everything we made. Music class, being in the choir and pan practice...strangely still can't play pan or the recorder.

Giggling in human and social biology classes at the human anatomy. Going through body changes and hairstyles and latest sneakers and bags. School bazzaars.

Might seem strange but I have no friends from either primary or secondary school. I had people who I thought were my friends but after school those friends were no more.
It wasn't good or bad. I just passed through. Had a few moments to remember here and there.

How could u just exist in school and not have great memories? See now I appreciate my mates all the more. When I see these grown men and women now I feel proud of what they have achieved big and small and I always want to stop and reminisce...and the feeling was and is always mutual.

Who could forget the lunch times of buying wings in de Tuck shop? Or Break Times fighting to get cheese pie off de pie man. White Rock swee' drink and pizza slices. white tube socks with blue or red or green stripes on top. Socks with pom poms lmaaooo.

Having to put chewing gum on yuh forehead and stand in the middle of the courtyard for all and sundry to laugh at yuh. During French class the only way we learnt the verbs was by singing them to a dub song. je tu il elle (feminine) and all de while beating de desks like tassa drums.

Giving everybody a nick name. Being snobbish because you were the brightest in the class and one of the brightest in the school. Getting meh ears ring in front of assembly by my aunt... :shock:

^^^^ Priceless indeed makes me wonder how old you are Sheppy? :? I break biche only once and it was to go to one of the Expos in the Stadium cause we heard yuh was getting ah settah free things. IT was a great hell of a day.

Being one of the most popular girls in school and not because of meh looks or lack there of (sigh) or because I had sex early (which I didn't...honest to God I didn't)... but because of my sheer sense of originality and engaging snobbery...lmao!

Going into "Tong" during lunch time...when school get a bomb scare and dey evacuate we across de street. Up to this day I wonder if these darn people ever heard that bombs EXplode not implode :x Half day because of Staff Meetings and not telling my parents so I can go lime in colsort mall or de dreaded notorious drag mall.

Memories of Friday evening limes at Pizza/Burger Boys and in front Colsort mall. Memories of last day at school when we all scribbled on each other's shirts. Eating nasty chinese food from some dirty place on corner of Duke and George Streets. Having all the kids in my class love my moms cooking :roll:

My dad dropping us off every morning and picking me up on rainy days.

My Sykotic French Teacher whom we used to blatantly cheat in front of him during French tests :lol: Having a crush on our Physics Teacher. :lol:

Then a note was written with the word 'cutted' so the form teacher made us write past tense of cut to see who in class wud have written cutted. :?

When I entered Form one they took 3 fellers to do A's. After them they never took anymore fellers.
And they continued with their all female staff.

Ahhhh School yes Lexxy I was priviledge. I remember that everytime a Raffle come home my parents used to divide between them my moms will take it to work one day fill half then the next day my dad will.

I had the kind of parents that came to all PTA Meetings, helped with all functions, beat u in front yuh teacher to make a point and queried every failed grade in yuh report book via a one on one meeting with your teacher and guidance councillor. We never really appreciated the level of involvement then because we thought it was the norm. I was in cadets (hated it) was in the choir and all them things.

My teacher was so involved in my education that she was at liberty to call the house and chat with my parents about where I should go to further my education. Loved her. Loved school. Loved my classmates.

Worst nightmare ever was when my mom went to America for 6 months and yuh girl went to get she hair cut in a Salt n Pepa style...shaved back...well de amount ah razor bumps ah get. I had to hide meh neck wid meh shirt collar and then I used to scratch it and it was not a pretty sight on a girl. (insert puke smilee here). :oops: I was looking like Darth after he cross to de dark side. Sigh!

The last day of form 5 we had a traddition that 5th formers were allowed to sing a farewell song in assembly to the whole school. Those that went the year before us sang a song that went. "we'd love to linger a little longer with you". When it was our turn I missed the day they planned it so when they all went up and sang Pink Floyd's "Anothe r brick in the wall", it goes like this. "we don't need no education, no dark sarcasm in the classroom, Hey teachers, leave us kids alone!" The teachers, principal and other students were like this :o :shock: :o :shock: :x and I was like this :o . That ended the traddition of 5th formers farewell song and day.
