once again the gutter is the place where you find 'great leaders'.
case in point: the nasty, disgusting, beret-wearing basdeo panday.
attacking both the pnm and unc candidates in st. joseph last night - down to the very core of their being....
1. saying that swaratsingh lied to the catholic community and the pope when he left the priesthood. why panday bringing catholics into his business????????????????? bas - talk yuh hindi on the platform nah and leave the catholics alone. the man didn't need any dispensation and he didn't lie to anybody. don't bring GOD in yuh nasty politics (even though you willing to sleep with him).
2.saying that the COP candidate doh know if she is a woman or a MAN but that "the man for the job" is very applicable to her. really. how low can you go. but i suppose politics has a morality of its own.
nastiness. gutter politics. but nothing new. we expect nothing less from basdeo panday.

He lying then is that what you are saying?? Anything that Panday said there is a lie ? Most of you sit in hushed tones and wonder about Gillian's preference to her attire so don't be hypocritical she is "butch" to the max and makes no bones about hiding it, now you coming on here and pretending that its so shocking what Panday said stueps
As for the man of God he left the clergy for that same reason having an affair with some one while being in the church it was his parishioners that buss the mark on that one when called to question he left, I do think that is against his religion is it not? So Panday is right these are the same person that coming and now pretending that they have so much morality and integrity of their own.
It all well and good to say Panday have no morals and not fit to lead or even run for office, but when you living in glass houses you should not throw stones, and it does seem like quiet a few of these upstanding aspirant politicians have cocoa in the sun also.
the curious thing is Gillian didnt start dressing so when she join COP , but this wasnt an issue when she was in the UNC.
incidentally leh we say she is lesbian. She breaking some law by being that way ? Think carefully before you answer.

The fact of the matter is the woman is a dike, so what you want to call her then?? She wears man clothing, suspenders and all, what is that a fashion statement. Some of you on here making much ado about a Red Beret and why Panday wearing that, well why the hell does Gillian walk around dressed like a man if she is a woman?
This had nothing to do with principle she is the one showing off her kind of likes or dislikes for the public to draw their own conclusions, if you walk in public in a dress and high heels and people say you looking like a woman, you look for that. What happen you did not feel tongues would wag in silent places, of course they would and have been all the time.
She sure is not trying to dispel the ole talk is she especially in this society where things of this nature is still frowned on, you feel that there are no calypso songs about Gillian there are and have been there for a long time, but of course now she is COP and Panday is evil to mention it but I know many people that have discussed her attire or her likes or dislike and that is not now been that way since she was in UNC.

But for Bas to attack her on her sexual orientation , it just shows how desperate he has become .
He has no class whatsoever left in him.

Desperate JP??? Desperate is the COP now making an issue over Kirk , Vashant and Mikela citizenship with full page ads in the media telling persons not to vote for them and if they do win their seats they will be taken to court. These are the same people that want to move PNM, that want to win votes, they getting on worse than the PNM now.
What is the point of all these ads are they so concerned about Dookeran's seat so they going to do anything to get it, well there is also a PNM candidate so what will happen if Vashant dont run the UNC people will vote PNM just to show Dookeran their point so he still will lose.
Anyway that is the party you support the COP but trust me they must of just lost another bunch of supporters with those antics, so keep it up fellas beating the COP is going to get easier and easier as election time comes closer especially when the COP starting to score in their own goal

Bas is absolutely classless, but unfortunately sexual orientation is a big deal to much of the electorate. Maybe one day it wont be so. I respect Gillian Lucky but her obvious preference will obstruct her politically at the national level.
1. saying that swaratsingh lied to the catholic community and the pope when he left the priesthood. 2.saying that the COP candidate doh know if she is a woman or a MAN but that "the man for the job" is very applicable to her. really. how low can you go. but i suppose politics has a morality of its own.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.........I expect better from someone I choose as my political leader. Lucky is a person with integrity, she walks her talk.I dont know much about Swaratsingh, but I am willing to give the man a chance. We in TT need to become more spiritually conscious. Everyone is divine and Gillian did not choose her sexual inclination, she was born that way. That Panday desired to be the PM of the nation and is at the same time sinking to such an intolerant and condemning level leaves a lot to be said. How is he going to lead the nation out of its intolerance and predjudice. Hats off for COP for accepting Lucky on its platform. She is worth her weight in gold and an asset to the nation. Through her many of us can release our predjuices. But we rather the ones in high heels and dresses, or suits, spewing hate and predjuice and falsehoods.!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So Panday is right these are the same person that coming and now pretending that they have so much morality and integrity of their own
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Morality! Integrity! As politicians, public servants we need pple who are honest/sincere as politicians. Leave their private lives alone, it does not influence the good they can do for the nation. When you are perfect, you can then condemn another human being who is trying to make the best of their journey on earth. Politics belong to Ceasers world, we want honesty, caring politicians whoe are not out to fill their pockets at the expense of the nation!

It’s a shame that one’s sexual preference needs be mocked on a political platform, regardless of what the other side may have said or done. What should it matter to anyone how 2 consenting adults wish to live? I am disappointed that Panday had to stoop to such a level.
But the hypocrisy of it all is that these same people who condemn Panday will pick up their religious books, which they praise and honor, oblivious of the fact that these books condemn such relationships and even go as far as saying homosexuals are abominations and should be killed.
So one man make a little picong on an opposing candidate and he is in the gutter, but these old religious books that spew even more hate are venerated by the masses.
Panday and so many others are part of a society where such a lifestyle is considered to be taboo. It is so because of the so-called moral teachings of religions which are intolerant to those who do not fall in line with the dictates of the scriptures.
If you choose to follow such books that’s your choice, I have no problem. But don’t come here condemning someone for making a joke when you revere or are silent about the intolerant teachings found in most religions.

.
Actually this is something I was trying to raise earlier. Various religions condemn male homosexuality but are completely silent on female homosexuality. It simply isnt mentioned positive or negative. Which is why I was saying people should think carefully before they insist Gillian is doing something immoral or illegal.

Well we don't really want to take this into the religious realm because there's another part of the forum for that.
But don't all religions condemn relationships outside of marriage? It’s fondly called adultery. The punishment as actually prescribed in some religions for adultery is stoning to death. It still happens in some religious states.
Whether you are male or female, adultery applies. Religions do not allow same sex marriage. (Well today in some secular societies they are allowed). So 2 women having a sexual relationship would be considered adulterous. And hence are punished accordingly.
And by the way the scriptures do condemn female homosexuality also.
Romans 1:26-7 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature, And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another;
Romans 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Homosexuality is nothing new.Instead of discriminating against homosexual we need to understand first and foremost they are human beings .2nd they are citizens an are entitled to fair and just treatment just like everyone else .
Here is a question :
"Would you love your child less if you found out your child is a homosexual ?

That is the New Testament. And there's lot more like that that you can find in the New Testament.
And anyway what wrong with quoting from the Old Testament? Its part of the bible, isn't it. Its the Laws Jesus preached and followed. He said no one were to change those laws until the end of time. Its the same god whether its the Old or New.
Where the 10 Commandments come from? Yes the Old Testament. So those OK but if civilisation shows your teachings to be barbaric you quick to distance yourself from it by reverting to the proverbial 'that's from the OT.'

To be quite blunt, who cares what the religious doctrines say? Religions don't run politics. We live in a multi-religious society and so it really does not matter what any doctrine says. Whatever it says is for people to adhere to or not adhere to in the sanctity of their own homes. Outside of it including the realm of politics, people have the freedom to choose.

Wrong, KB. Religion influences but it does NOT run it. Our religious makeup is too diverse for a party to run via religion and succeed. There is a big difference between influence and run. They are not one and the same.

The fact of the matter is some of you on here are so hypocritical its sickening at times. If Gillian was a PNM candidate for St. Joseph I bet anything not one of you that pretending to be so shock now would of said anything.
JP you say you expected more from me well that is your view, if you are willing to accept that kind of lifestyle that is your choice I don't, I have a hard time trying to understand this kind of throw it in your face take it or leave it attitude of Gillian. If Gillian has a issue with being labeled by anyone in that manner then she should not go about the place making it so easy for this kind of talk to exist, wearing masculine clothing sure does not stop the talk it adds to it, and being as educated as she is am sure she is aware of that fact.
When individuals walk the streets of Woodbrook at night wearing ladies attire with heel and handbags what do we call them, or what perception do people get of them? So what makes what Gillian is doing any different, or do we just accept it because she is sitting in parliament or running for office? Or does it become acceptable because she is from a different bracket in our society ?
Even in the mighty USA with all the laws giving people this right there are persons that have a great issue with this, anyone running for office is under the eye of the public and some candidates have even been asked to step down due to their sexual preference or leaning. It still is a hard sell in many countries and that is a fact.
Gillian is fully aware I am sure that once on a election campaign its open season and all kind of things will be said, each will look to make a issue of any thing that they can dig up on their opponents, in the same manner as everyone is making mileage on Panday's court matters, the Ramesh incident, or Jack's football talk. Politics is not for the faint of heart so to come on here and say someone should not say this or that, they all saying what they want when they ready to win their crowds, but what some of you want is a selective choice to speak about certain issues and leave out what falls in your garden, sorry but it just does not work this way not in politics and all of you should know that.
Wow, Gill your sexual orientation is upsetting many ppl..i wonder how they feel abt Mikela..after all it's open season... she shld wear some feminie clothes and grow her hair... steupssss

Whether its Gillian or Mikela or Kirk....ones sexual orientation (real or perceived) is a non-issue in this country.
We are very tolerant of many things.....and quite frankly none of us are mattresses so what do any of us care what goes in the private lives of others whether they be our leaders or our neighbours next door.
Trinidad has never been as vicious a society as Jamaica where gay men are not just hounded down they are actually murdered in broad daylight. I make reference to a very unfortunate case last year where a gay man was chased and beaten by a mob and drowned in Kingston harbour.
If these are being raised as issues in this campaign (which I doubt) or used as mauvais langue (which I believe) then those who are discussing it do so to their own detriment.

So my morning and afternoon radio is now filled with tales of who needs a whole tub of Vaseline sent to them and who left to go to Hilton in the dead of night!
So while of this going on and Anand is filing notices on Meighoo and Vasant, and while Bas is calling Gillian names, and while Jennings on Jack tail and while UNC and COP are engaging in hand to hand combat in Spring Village and Freeport....this is what Patrick and Keith are doing...
We'd better get used to them laughing.. they're gonna rule for a very long time!!

[quote="sylvestter"]once again the gutter is the place where you find 'great leaders'.
case in point: the nasty, disgusting, beret-wearing basdeo panday.
attacking both the pnm and unc candidates in st. joseph last night - down to the very core of their being....
This had to be St.Joseph village in south because I know COP was in the former capital last night.
As for religion yesterday on morning edition I heard both the UNCA and COP candidates who are priests say that religeon plays and important part. Also I remember our former president say that the reason he broke the law and gave the government to the PNM was because of morality and spirituality.
Have we not heard the story of Sodom and Gomorrah?
I heard and in fact just read Winston's speech which was delivered in St.Joseph last night...nice speech buuuut how ironic while he is preaching one thing his fellow candidates talking gutter politics.
So myuh know what ah think ah want to do like meh pardner ...jump ship and join de winning party alyuh know what ah talking bout and then maybe ah go get tuh see de mansion and maybe get tuh ride in de jet dat is waiting in antigua.

....worse for anyone caught with their hand in the Crix tin!
He does not make joke with that kind of thing....which makes the whole Landate fiasco just that.....a fiasco.
I, for one, was glad that he was cleared by the Integrity Commission and that he now has an action against them for their "overzealous" investigation.
I have always been more engaged with what he has had to say and how he says it when compared to Patrick Manning.
This is the kind of no nonsense approach that we will need for TnT for a few years as we have some hard decisions to make as to how we deal with globalization, rising international food prices, how we negotiate our energy resources with MNC's etc.

MG ,
Whatever your stereotype about gays it is not always negative like what you see in Woodbrook , understand that to treat them differently and look down and ridicule them is discrimination .Plan and simple.
The same way people discriminate on people because of race , religion , nationality or otherwise .
Sexual orientation is no different .

the unc supporters on this notice board are so funny and hypocritical.
it was a BIG problem when anand was accused of calling unc supporters "backward ******s" but it's a-ok to thrash gillian's sexual orientation and refer to her as "dyke" etc.
then again, i am really not surprised at the "two-facedness" of these people. they are the same ones who wanted ramesh's head on a platter a few years ago. now he is their hero.

Look how Gillian said that the PNM candidate in St. Joseph slogan " the man for them" Gillian said that was his problem in that other place alluding to the church that he was too much man for them :D same thing I was saying , also the same thing Panday said his manlinesses got in the way of his scared vows of celibacy
So when Gillian sharing her politics licks she don't expect to get some in return

Maybe you should look in the mirror and see who the real puppet is. And when you done look and see who pulling the strings behind Dookeran's back.

Well it is implied UNCA supporters are puppets. Since they are in the know , why don't they post it ?
But JP, you so close to the CoP I would have thought that you may have realised by now that Yetming and B.Tiwarie are the real contollers behind that party.

Breds ,
I do not belong to any political party .I once had a UNC party card .After RLM left , I threw it out .
Today , it is my firm opinion that out of the 3 main parties contesting this election , the COP is the only party that would lead in a fair and equitable way .
We both know that the PNM and UNC failed in treating all of its citizen in a fair and equitable manner .
Because of this I am supporting the COP , in this election , an am doing all that I possibly can to promote them .
That is all .
PS : If what you are saying is true , as far as I am aware both Yetming and Tiwarie have never been accused of squandering or stealing state money .They both had ample opportunity , if they wanted to do so .
