Now we're creating pollution far up in space by satellites colliding- soon we'll need to wear helmets when we go outside to avoid a piece of satellite bussing yuh head.

What? is it that they do not have enough 'space' out there to orbit in?

this had to happen eventually.

Check out the latest news on this. 2 cans and string may be in your future phone.

From link below: The problem is particularly insidious because collisions with orbital debris tend to create more debris, thus increasing the risk of future impacts, which in turn create more debris. In theory, a single collision could create a runaway feedback loop known as the Kessler Syndrome, named for NASA consultant Donald Kessler, in which the area around the earth becomes so crowded with orbital detrietus that it becomes impracticable to launch anything into space.

I'm glad they just collided and did not hit the ground.

The hubble may be at risk of damage from debris , very movie esque.

We are at little or no risk from the debris i'd think, its just lots of small bits that will burn up in the atmposhere.

Most of our telecommunications these days are through sub oceanic optic fibre, we can stand to loose a few satellites .

I personally think the level of our space technology is pathetic : Those satellites are a mere 500 miles above the earth, and we aren't even able to say , use a high powered energy beam to break up the debris , something that could be useful in case a small asteroid wants to come our way.

I want phasers and near light speed travel . hyperdrive would be cool too.

Discip, You should be a physicist :)

These things are being worked on although they're a lot harder than than may seem .

Better start working on phasers and proton torpedos soon , space junk could become a problem in the future , though its unlikely anyone will die from it.

In Calgary, Alberta Canada they almost called a city wide warning after a piece of a rocket was heading back to earth. Time to start studying those Star Trek movies to learn how they used phasors to destroy stuff like this.

Somehow I don't believe that this was a "space" accident. This was deliberately done as a test in case of war, to take out communications satellites.

No snowbat ...yuh out of your league ah tell yuh...go see the latest on the

"days of our lives" and " As the world turns".....leave scientific stuff to the

brians!

The satelites collusion is not suprising because as vast as space may be

the Orbits around a particular planet i.e Earth shall have a limited space!

The real problem is this: What happens if enough of them collide as to

totally disrupt all satelite TV and Cell phones ?

It shall be "peace on the valley" and I shall be syaing YES!

Then all those idiots yakking on the phone and flatten dey ass as the sit

for the majority of their lives away from the slave job wathcing TV will

have nothing to do and they may head back to their jobs and produce

more...put them to plant garden so we go get Organic Foods!

Come on satelites collide quick!

The junk is also making it dangerous for the space station.
