What Manning does as a political leader or what he does not do is of course high on the agenda for opposition election campaign strategy. Sugestions that he is gaining international status with leaders such as Bush of the US, together with the leader of Israel as Democratic Dictators is an interesting development. It is observed that democratic dictators are democratically elected leaders who orchestrate military options to remove leaders of democratic elected governments. Claims by the UNC that that manning has expanded this definition to include constitutional reforms has widened the scope of identification of Democratic Dictators.

latany,
The PNM campaign is busy right now trying to assuage the fears of the people about what the people have seen as clear indications of Manning,s intentions.
If the PNM wins a sufficient majority to be able to unilaterally amend the constitution, almost everything to facilitate a Manning democratic dictatorship is already in place including the presidential palace.
The official residence of the president is presently uninhabitable and it is seen as deliberate that it was allowed to get to that state. The perception is that as far as Manning is concerned it may no longer be needed after the election.
Add that to the way PNM candidates were selected and Manning feathering his family nest by giving his wife a cabinet minister position through the backdoor over the heads of many more capable people within the PNM , some of them elected, and the fears of the people seem well grounded. The party has shown that it has no control over Manning and what he wants. If PNM gets the necessary majority the consultation with the people they are talking about could be just for show, a mockery.
