Do you find it better to use one bank for all your needs or do you have different accounts with totally unrelated banks for different uses? Recently in the UK a bank called "The Northern Rock" has been in trouble and people panicked over their savings. I use 2 different banks.

I use 2 different banks now. I dropped out of Republic becos they take money out of your account every month as their service charge.

I think it's wise to have as many accounts as ones needs maybe. I would not use my personal checking account to pay for a business transaction, I would have a commercial account to handle those. Likewise, I would not withdraw money from my savings account except in the case of an emergency, because it's just that.....savings. I would also have a Retirement account ( and every YOUNG person should have one of those) to plan for my future days, especially since I cannot rely on other means to finance my old age.

Funds in TT banks are also Govtinsured, what really is your point? that if your bank goes belly up, you have no other funds? and you'll be out on the streets until the Fed bails you out?

BUNTA, I didn't quite understand your post. If you have four savings account in one bank each one is insured for up to $100,000.00. Obviously, it would not make sense to put all your money in a savings account. A money market gives a better interest rate, and if you planning for retirement, you would consider a tax deferred annuity. DANCERBOY

Same here and so was Northern Rock and is just that people does panic quick and not privy to de fact that the banks are insured and that their money would not have been lost made Northern Rock such a victim.

The banking system of TNT is an excellent banking system and why will we give two hoots about USA and Candaian and English systems ?
Long before some of all yuh no anything beyond five cents an penny Trinidadians and Tobagonians who are well educated about money has been banking right here in TNT and when they have to wok dey bob ball they head for the swiss bank because dem englsh bank to darn " ratty " dey does rat on people like the rat on Oma and Bas....now if bas did listen to he parents he would ah hide the money in ah olde latrine in a olde bisuuit tin!

Yeah, I had a good deal made not too long ago and am patiently waiting to be a millionaire. I also put some in Zimbabwe bonds, interest is exceedingly great.
