CO-LEADERS of the United National Congress Alliance Basdeo Panday and Jack Warner and Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj have criticised the Express for the recently released political opinion survey conducted by Selwyn Ryan and Associates, which has put the People's National Movement and the Congress of the People ahead in a tight election race.
During a UNC Alliance meeting in Freeport on Tuesday night, Warner said the Express and TV6 were the best mouthpiece for the People's National Movement.
He said the results of the poll were only intended to scare the UNC Alliance supporters into thinking that the support had swung in the other parties' favour.
Maharaj accused the Express and TV6 of being against the party in these elections. He said the same thing happened in 1991, when a poll suggested that the UNC would get only three seats, "but when the results were announced, the UNC got more seats than any Opposition in Parliament".
Warner claimed he had gone to several media houses to book air time for the UNC meeting on Tuesday night, but was told that the PNM was being given priority.
At the meeting, Panday also bowed publicly in humility and swallowed his pride to apologise for differences between himself and Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj.
Panday wooed the crowd and won hearts when he said: "Ramesh and I had our differences, but I have to swallow my Abhimaan, a Hindi word which means 'false pride'. Pappyyyyshowwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!still to explain wat went wrong
"I have swallowed my pride and whatever else I had to swallow because my personal feelings must not override my national duty. The nation comes first....."
He said one year ago things looked bleak for the party, when Winston Dookeran ran from his responsibility to form his own party known as the COP.
"We made him leader, but he said we would not let him lead. But if you are the leader and I have to let you lead, you ent no damn leader, I am the leader," Panday added. DRUNK WITH POWER!!!!!!!!! but begging the man to join back with you now?!?!!?? CONFUSEDDDDD.COMMM
He also accused the COP of dividing votes for the PNM to win the elections. He said the drug mafia was also intervening in the elections, "because they know that we will deal with the drug problem".
so this is one of the reasons i could never really consider unc to be an all inclusive party ... not even on half of a low level. So you go to freeport... yuh crowd supposed to be all inclusive... but you using words like 'Abhimann' who this party really supposed to appeal to ?
people yet to understand the meaning of the breakdown between him and RLM and wat that money from duprey was really for  ... never mind this sham 'humility'... now he want people to have to go and look up how to translate foreign languages
I find words like that should not be used in an 'all inclusive' environment... its exactly the same way i find maning should not use his christian religious agenda lest he offends those that may support pnm but may not be christian. all these politicans guilty of polarisation of some sort lawd
BUT 'I AM THE LEADER!!!!" lol this sounds like a man drunk with power and still confused as to how and why he lost it. poor bas i like him too bad but lord he bahaving jokey these days.... no coherency to his public output these days at all.
